Sinus Wash

Read on to know the benefits of a sinus wash, how to use irrigation products, and also a few home remedies for a sinus wash solution.

Sinus wash, as the name suggests, is the process of cleansing the sinus. Also known as sinus irrigation, sinus rinse, or nasal irrigation, this is a natural and practical method that helps relieve the symptoms of hay fever and allergy. This procedure cleans the passage of the nose where the dust particles accumulate, and washing them away can provide rapid relief from symptoms caused by allergens like pollen and dust particles. Along with this, a sinus wash also helps stimulate the cilia movement and healthy secretions by keeping the mucosa moist and trapping other unwanted particles like allergens, bacteria, and dirt. How to Use Sinus Wash Products There are many different irrigation products available, and each has slightly different methods on how to use them effectively. Here are some guidelines that can help, but please ensure that you have read all the instructions provided by the manufacturer very carefully, and do not do anything they have advised against. The best way to use a nasal irrigation product is to bend forward over a sink and lower the head and tilting it slightly to the left in a manner that the left nostril is pointed down towards the sink. Apply the irrigation bottle or the tip firmly against the right nostril. Remember not to insert anything into your nose and also to keep your mouth open and breathe through the entire process. Begin the irrigation process. The sinus drain solution should drain out of your left nostril and should not be allowed to go down your throat. Stop the procedure and let all the remaining solution drain from your nose. Now, gently blow your nose to clear out any remaining solution. Do not blow to hard as it could force the solution towards your ears. The entire process has to be repeated for the other nostril.
