Trying to reach a consensus about the most poisonous animal in the world is a daunting task. You see, there are so many. Any animal falls under the category of 'poisonous' when it carries harmful chemicals called toxins in it. These might be stored in its glands or skin. Most of the time, poisonous animals have very bright colors. The purpose of which is to scare their predators away with an influx of brightly hued shades that stand out starkly in an otherwise somber surrounding. Bright yellows, blues, reds, oranges. If predators are not discouraged by their bright colors and approach them, then it can almost always prove to be fatal for the animals. This frog is called a poison dart frog because its poison was taken and used on arrow tips which were used for hunting. Which needless to say, always killed the enemy. The Brazilian wandering spider, also known as the Banana spider or the Phoneutria falls in this category as well. Its toxins are so lethal that a minuscule amount which equals 0.006 mg can kill a mouse. This spider is said to contain the most potent neurotoxic venom among all other spiders, that if administered can not only cause excruciating pain, but can also lead to Priapism (uncomfortable degrees of erections that end up lasting for many hours and can lead to impotence) in males. What adds to these spider's lethal powers is the fact that they hide during the daytime in populated areas and therefore the chances of bites are heightened. Again, to make a choice in this category is quite difficult to undertake. But rest assured, all of these are really, really dangerous creatures of the sea. This fish is found in the Pacific and Indian ocean. It stores its toxins in deadly spikes that are found on the surface of its body and hurts its predators really badly. Often described as 'The worst pain known to man', the stonefish administers a sting that can cause a human to go into shock, paralysis and can lead to the death of tissues. If immediate medical attention is not administered, then it can cause amputations and deaths in humans. The box jellyfish is a deadly creature that is found in the waters of Australia and Asia. The venom of the jellyfish is so poisonous that its toxins can attack the heart, skin cells and the nervous system of humans and animals. The venom, they say, is so powerful and causes such degrees of pain, that a human can go into shock and drown or suffer a heart attack and die. There are very rare cases in which a person who has suffered a jellyfish sting can survive if not treated promptly. So also people who have survived these stings say that the pain continues for weeks after the bite had been administered. These snails are found in a saltwater environment. One drop of the venom of the marbled cone snail is enough to kill about 20 humans. A bite will result in severe pain, numbness, tingling and swelling in the area of the bite. It may also lead to breathing failure, muscle paralysis and vision changes. There is no anti-venom available for this creature's bite.
