    Abracadabra!! Envisage a miraculous world where you can easily get anything you want by just swirling a magic wand in the air. Such fantasies always fascinate us, magical movies open up another world for us, where we start to believe that such things are possible. Here at Buzzle, we have compiled a list of top 10 movies about magic.

    The world of magic has always fascinated us, and we are always amazed with the tricks that magicians perform. Thinking about it, what if a magical world does exist, and a happily ever after was actually possible? On a more realistic note, these thoughts or ideas have been fantastically and realistically portrayed on the silver screen, and some movies have left an indelible mark on audiences young and old alike. They have taught us was to never give up hope and to fight till the end. One name stands head and shoulders above else when movies and magic are mentioned, and that name is Disney. They are famous for producing movies based on magic and fairy tales, transporting viewers into fantasy land. Of late, there has been a surge of movies and silver screen offerings that have magic as the central theme in their stories, and we, at Buzzle, thought of compiling a list of top 10 movies about magic. So here it is.
    Maleficent

    It narrates the untold story of Disney's most iconic villain from the Sleeping Beauty, and portrays the incidents that eventually turned her pure heart to stone (not in the literal sense). Played by Angelina Jolie, Maleficent is a pure-hearted fairy who lives in a forest called Moors. While growing up she falls for a human peasant boy Stefan, played by Sharlto Copley. They end up spending time together; however, Stefan has other plans, and he aims to become a king one day. He stops seeing her and life goes on. Until, one day, the current king is defeated by Maleficent, when he tries to capture the Moors. He promises to name whoever kills her as his next successor, Stefan overhears this and drugs Maleficent, he ends up cutting her wings and takes them to the king as a proof that she is dead. Maleficent feels betrayed, and these events turn her pure heart to stone. She places a curse on Stefan's daughter Princess Aurora, played by Elle Fanning, that she will fall into a deep slumber on her 16th birthday by pricking her finger on a spindle, and the curse can be broken only by a true love's kiss. The plot describes Stefan sending her daughter to some forest so that she can avoid this. She is accompanied by 3 fairies, who fail to look after her, In the meantime, Maleficent becomes really close to Aurora and now regrets the curse which she herself can't undo. On her 16th birthday, she falls into a deep slumber and even a kiss from Philip (Aurora's lover) fails to wake her up, but when Maleficent kisses her forehead the spell is broken, and Princess Aurora awakens. Stefan dies, and Maleficent makes Princess Aurora queen of both kingdoms.

    It's a 3D computer-animated musical fantasy comedy film, and ranks as one of the highest grossing animated films of all time. It has won two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song. Frozen is about an 18-year-old girl Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel), who has some powers which can turn things and people into ice. She lives a secluded life in her palace because she is scared that she will somehow hurt younger sister Anna (voiced by Kristen Bell). Because of the time spent apart, there seems to be a misunderstanding between the sisters, and Anna leaves the palace, and somehow because of her icy powers, the Kingdom of Arendelle is trapped in eternal winter. Anna flees to the mountain and makes an icy castle and stays there. The story takes a twist when Elsa is on the quest to find her sister and together they put an end to Anna's misery and bring back happiness to their kingdom. The story is about happily ever after and how even in a difficult situation, you should remain optimistic. We all are aware of the famous song Let It Go from the movie, and are so addicted to it that we end up using the line in various scenarios. In fact, I watched this movie on my birthday, and it truly was a special day for me.

    If we are talking about magic and movies, then how can we forget the Harry Potter series? I am sure, if I would have omitted this movie series, all you Potter fans would have cursed me, joking!! The movies have been successful in adapting the story of Harry Potter and his friends and have done complete justice to the brilliance of author J. K. Rowling. The casting was impeccable and acting brilliant. All those involved in the movie series were literary into tears when the project ended. Of course, working for 10 years for the same project brings you close to each other. The movies go darker and deeper, as the series progresses, leaving you to want more.
    Halloweentown

However, Gwen (Judith Hoag) does not tell her kids about these magical powers, as she wants them to have a normal upbringing. Aggie (Debbie Reynolds) is Gwen's mother, and she visits them for Halloween; however, this time she needs her daughter's help, to which Gwen simply declines. The kids overhear this, and follow their grandmother to Halloween and decide to help their grandmother. The story unfolds, as how they defeat the devil and the whole family returns to the mortal world. This movie was followed by three sequels Halloweentown 2: Kalabar's Revenge, Halloweentown High, Return to Halloweentown.
    Oz the Great and Powerful

    The movie is about a magician, Oscar, who is a Casanova and is famous for his ability to charm ladies. He escapes one kingdom and lands up in Oz. There he meets 3 witches, and they all think, he is a wizard who has come to defeat the witch. But of the 3 witches, 2 are bad, and he needs to figure out which one is the good witch. In the end, he becomes a wizard due to his determination to defeat the witch and to become the king. The movie ends with Oscar rescuing the good witch, and he becomes a king at the end.

    Can you imagine Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as witches? Can't picture them? Well, you don't need to because in the movie, they don't actually look like witches but normal human beings with some powers though. In the movie, all Owens women are witches, it's good to have some powers, but there is a drawback, they all are under a magical curse; any man loved by any Owens woman will die tragically. Power comes but with some limitation. Sally (Sandra Bullock) gets married has kids, and one day, her husband dies, which leaves her heartbroken. She vows that she will ensure that her children will lead a normal life. The movie is about how they reverse the curse, and finally, Sally has a happily ever after with the help of her sister and her aunts. Though the movie didn't do well at the box office, it is still worth a watch.

    A classic Disney fairy tale that, again, wants us to believe that true love helps to conquer all evil. However, there is a twist to this fantasy, the movie transforms from an animated movie to a modern one, where the witch sends the heroine or the girl to New York city so that she and her son can't get married. Giselle (Amy Adams), on her arrival, struggles to adjust to city life. She is naive but meets an adorable lawyer Robert (Patrick Dempsey) and his daughter Morgan (Rachel Covey). He gives her his home to stay, and in return, she helps him establish a strong connection with his fiancée. But they start liking each other, and she starts having second thoughts about her feelings for Prince Edward (James Marsden). He comes to rescue her so that they can go back and get married, but she has other plans. Of course, there has to be some evil lurking. In the meantime, Prince Edward's mother (the witch) comes to New York City to kill Giselle, but is unsuccessful. The story ends with Giselle and Robert falling in love with each other, and prince Edward falling in love with Robert's fiancee.
    The Chronicles of Narnia Series

    The Chronicles of Narnia is a series of fantasy films adapted from a series of novels written by C. S. Lewis. Of the seven novels, there have been three movie adaptations so far. Picture a world where a lion speaks and guides you! The Chronicles of Narnia revolves around the adventures of children in the world of Narnia, and they are guided by Aslan, a wise and powerful lion, who has speaking abilities and is the true king of Narnia. The series was a hit at the box office and viewers really loved the plots and the scenes.

    We all know the story of Aladdin, in fact, many of us dream about the famous town Agrabah, magic carpets, genie and Jasmine's clothes and long flowing hair. It all seems magical to me at least, that's the thing about Disney movies. Well, the story starts with Jafar who is plain evil and greedy, and he has plans to retrieve a magic lamp from the cave of wonders; however, he later learns that only a Diamond in the Rough can enter the cave. Enter Aladdin who is believed to be that person. He is a street-urchin who lives with his friend Abu, the monkey. Aladdin meets Princess Jasmine at the marketplace, and the two hit it off. Under the orders of Jafar, Aladdin gets thrown in prison, and Jafar intends to marry Jasmine to become the Sultan. Aladdin with the help of the genie from the lamp deceives the princess into believing that he is some sultan of a far away land, but later tells her the truth. They defeat Jafar and is captured in a magical lamp. The movie ends with Aladdin and Jasmine tying the knot and living happily ever after.

This movie features a beautiful girl named Tiana who wants to open her restaurant, a frog prince who badly wants to be a human again, and a fateful kiss which makes them fall for each other, and takes them both on a hilarious journey.
