How to Do a Kickflip on a Skateboard
The key to doing a kickflip on a skateboard is that you know how to ollie. Glide in to know a little bit more on this trick...
- Your feet should be in a position akin to an ollie.
- Then, place the ball of your front foot near the center of the skateboard, a little below the front bolts.
- Hit the tail of your skateboard, like it is done for an ollie. However, drag your front foot in the direction of the side of the board, in a flicking motion, rather than dragging the front foot up the board.
- Now, you have to do this flip really fast, because the faster you do it, the faster you would be able to flip. It is the magic of your ankle and nothing else.
- Stay over the board while you jump and the board flips. Remember not to push down on the board once you are up. This will lead it to continue rising.
- Once the board flips completely, let it hit your back foot. This is termed or referred to as catching the flip.
- Simultaneously, the front foot must not be far behind to get back on the board, though the back foot generally gets hold of the skateboard first.
- The previous step will help you control the trick better while landing.
- One very important thing as far as doing a kickflip on a skateboard is concerned, is that while landing or coming down, keep your feet as close as possible to the bolts.
