How to Barbecue Chicken

Barbecued chicken is one of the most popular (and troublesome) meat to grill. Buzzle gives you tips on grilling different pieces of chicken, in no time.

Cooking delicious chicken is no joke. It doesn't just happen on its own. But the excitement in the kitchen never ends. The best way to barbecue chicken is to let it marinate for as long as you can, and then placing it over a hot grill. Barbecue Chicken Breast Ingredients
  • Barbecue sauce, 6 tablespoons
  • Garlic, chopped, 4 tablespoons
  • Boneless chicken breasts, 3 lbs.
  • Olive oil, 2 tablespoons
  • Allspice seasoning, ⅛ cup
  • Salt and black pepper, for taste
Directions In a large bowl, big enough to dip the chicken in, mix garlic, barbecue sauce, salt, black pepper, and olive oil properly. Place the chicken breasts in the marinade, let it coat on all the sides, and marinate for 1 hour. Preheat the grill and keep it ready. Once the chicken is marinated, remove it from the bowl and place it directly on the grill. Cook the chicken on both sides for about 10―12 minutes, depends on your taste (charbroiled or tender), and serve with side of fried rice or French fries. Barbecue Chicken Legs Ingredients
  • Chicken leg quarters, 2
  • Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons
  • Canola oil, 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar, 1 tablespoon
  • Cider vinegar, 1 tablespoon
  • Steak sauce, 1 tablespoon
  • Hot pepper sauce, 1 teaspoon
  • Ketchup, ¼ cup
Directions In a large skillet, add canola and fry the chicken legs properly. Once the skin turns brown, remove the pieces and place the pieces in a baking pan. In a different bowl, mix Worcestershire sauce, sugar, steak sauce, vinegar, hot pepper sauce, and ketchup together. Take this mixture and pour it over the chicken legs. Coat the chicken properly and let it sit in the marinade for 15―20 minutes. Place the legs on a hot grill and let it cook properly for 15―20 minutes. Once ready, serve it with a side of French fries and some lemon wedges. Barbecue Chicken Thighs Ingredients
  • Chicken thighs w/skin, 12
  • Garlic cloves, crushed, 3
  • Lemon juice, 6 tablespoons
  • Onion powder, 2 teaspoons
  • Hot pepper sauce, 1 teaspoon
  • Dry mustard, ½ teaspoon
  • Soy sauce, ½ cup
  • Ketchup, ½ cup
  • Brown sugar, ½ cup
  • Barbecue sauce, ½ cup
  • Chili sauce, ½ cup
  • Vegetable oil
Directions In a pan, combine all the ingredients except for the vegetable oil and chicken. Mix everything properly on high heat, and then let it cook for 10 minutes on low heat. With a cooking brush, apply vegetable oil on the grill and turn it on. Season the chicken pieces with salt and black pepper, and place the skin part on the grill first. Cook it for about 8 minutes, or till the skin turns golden brown. Flip the pieces over and cook on the other side for 8 minutes as well. Take the barbecue sauce and baste the thighs as they're cooking on the grill. Once the chicken is cooked on both sides, serve it with some cool ranch dipping sauce.
