First make a slit through the bottom part of the paper bag, 2 inches from the top with the utility knife. Now open the paper bag and cut an "X" shape at the bottom center. Push the satin ribbon through this slit and make a knot to secure it. Next push the small light bulb through the "X" at the bottom of the paper bag and use masking tape to seal the socket and wire. Repeat the process on all the paper bags. String these beautiful paper bag lights in your balcony or patio and see how beautiful it looks. Designer Wrapping Paper Chuck out store brought wrapping paper for wrapping gifts and instead, make your very own designer wrapping paper. To make designer wrapping paper, you will need food coloring, porous rice paper which are found in long sheets. Fold the rice paper into very thin accordion folds. Attach paper clips on both ends of the paper. Now dilute the food coloring into a small bowl with a bit of water. Dip the long sides of the accordion folded paper into the diluted food coloring and remove immediately. Unclip the paper clips and unfold the rice paper. Hang it from a clothespin and allow the paper to dry. Your unique wrapping paper is ready. To have a different pattern for this wrapping paper, you can fold the rice paper in different styles and then dip the corners and edges in the food coloring. You can also use different colors for creating multi colored patterns in the wrapping paper. Paper Christmas Ornaments There are so many cool things to make out of paper, but nothing beats paper Christmas ornaments. To make paper Christmas ornaments you need one sheet of A4 paper or wrapping paper, glitter powder and ribbons. Place the A4 paper on a table and mark six lines on it with a pencil that are 1 cm apart. Cut these six strips with a pair of sharp scissors. Take each strip of paper and make a nick at the end so that the ends can be joined together. Make a round loop with one strip of paper and place it aside. Now place the other five strips on the table in a star formation. Place the round loop over it and pull up each end of strips and join them together. Once all the strips are locked together, you will have a lovely homemade Christmas ornament. Paper Chandelier Paper chandeliers are fun to make and are a great way to use old magazines and scraps of wrapping paper. It is pretty easy to make and it makes a great home décor item too. All you need to make a paper chandelier are a lampshade, scalloped paper punch, decorative paper of your choice, thread, wide satin ribbon and Scotch tape. First, use the scalloped paper punch to punch out round medallions from your decorative paper. It is best to use a thick paper for this project like pages from a magazine. You will need around 60 - 100 medallions depending upon the dimension of the chandelier that you are making. Next, remove the fabric from the lampshade, and clean it. You will be left with the inner metal structure of the lampshade. This will act as the base for the chandelier. Next place around eight paper medallions on the worktable and tape a long piece of thread along the back of the paper medallions. Make sure that you secure the thread to the back of each paper medallion properly. Once you have made a paper chandelier strand by following the procedure detailed above, make more strands to cover the entire chandelier base. Finally string the paper chandelier strands to the chandelier base until it is covered fully and the base is not visible.
