You can use yarn for making some of the most interesting yarn crafts. In this article we are going to discuss how you can make crafts out of yarn.

Yarn is basically used for knitting. But, did you know you can create many other things with it too? And it is not necessary for you to know how to knit to make simple yarn crafts. All you need is a bit of creativity. You can create anything, from home decor items to inexpensive Christmas ornaments. For preschoolers, personalized cards that are made out of yarn are another great idea. For little girls who are fond of dressing up, pretty hair accessories and brooches made with yarn can be experimented with. Yarn Balls Things required
  • Balloon
  • Colored knitting yarn
  • Glue
  • Newspaper
  • Paint brush
Method First, blow up the balloon and then tie its end securely with a piece of string. In a bowl, add a bit of water to the glue to make it more thin and runny. Apply glue all over the surface of the balloon with the paintbrush and then layer it over with strips of newspaper that has been torn into strips of 1-inch thickness. Make sure that you cover the entire surface of the balloon with the newspaper strips. Apply another coat of glue over the newspaper, and then randomly wrap knitting yarn over the balloon. You can use different colored knitting yarn for more variation. Once you have covered the entire surface of the balloon with the yarn, hang it to dry overnight. Pop the balloon with a needle and take the popped balloon out through a gap in the yarn. Your beautiful yarn ball is ready to be used as a Christmas ornament or a home decor piece.   • 2 ½-inch square piece of cardboard
Method Place the square piece of cardboard on your work table and wrap the yarn over it. Make a secure knot, after a single wrap to secure the yarn. Now, start wrapping the knitted yarn over the cardboard square, making sure that you do so tightly. Keep wrapping, until the whole of the cardboard square is covered. Now, take a long piece of yarn under the top edge of the cardboard, and then tie it into a tight knot. Slip the square piece of cardboard from the wrapped yarn and tie another piece of yarn ½ an inch from the top. Snip through the bottom of the tassel with a pair of sharp scissors.   • Yarn in two different colors (blue and brown)
Method First, wrap a 20-inch long brown-colored yarn strip and wrap it around the middle prong of the plastic fork. Make sure the two ends of the brown yarn are even. Now take the blue-colored yarn and wrap it in between the first and second prongs of the fork. Leave one end of the blue yarn shorter than the other. With the longer end, start wrapping it around the first and the third prong. Once you reach the third prong, weave the blue yarn again on the last prong and second prong. Continue weaving the blue yarn in this way until you reach the top of the fork. Cut the blue colored yarn leaving around 2 inches. Bring the brown colored yarn towards the middle prong of the fork and then tie both ends together. Gently slide the woven yarn off the fork and scrunch it up a bit. Tie another tight knot with the brown colored yarn and fluff the blue yarn a bit to shape it into a flower. These were three easy ways to use yarn besides for knitting.
