Thanksgiving is all about fabulous and delicious food. And once everyone are almost full after eating the turkey, you bring out the desserts. That's when everyone's eyes just pop out because they want to eat it but can't seem to find any space in their stomachs. But, the temptation is too high and declining a nice piece of pie (or cake; whatever you choose to serve as dessert for Thanksgiving) is just not right. So how do you get to satiate yourself and still not go overboard with temptation? With delicious desserts, of course. Here are some sugar-free Thanksgiving desserts for you to try.
Apple Pie
Prep Time - 15 mins Cook Time - 50 mins Servings - 8 Calories per Serving - 385 (approx)
Ingredients
  • 4 apples
  • 2½ cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup fat free butter
Directions This dessert is sweet without the additional calories. First of all, preheat the oven at 350ºF. In a bowl, mix flour and salt together. Melt butter in a different bowl and pour in with the flour. Mix everything properly and make 2 balls. With the rolling pin, you will make the balls flat, but not too thin. Place the rolled out dough over a pie pastry pan. For the filling, you need to peel, core, and slice the apples. Add brown sugar and cinnamon in and mix well. Add this mixture into the pan and cover it with the other rolled out dough. Make some slits on top and place in the oven to bake for 40-45 minutes. Once the crust is brown, you can remove the pan from the oven. Serve the pie when it's warm.
Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients
  • 3 eggs
  • 16 oz can pumpkin
  • 12 oz can evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup artificial sweetener
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
Directions What's Thanksgiving without a pumpkin pie. First of all, you will preheat the oven at 425ºF. In a bowl, you will beat the pumpkin and add milk and eggs to it. Mix everything properly and add the rest of the ingredients one by one. Once the batter is ready, grease a 9'' pie pastry pan and pour it inside. Place the pan in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes or so. Afterward, reduce the oven's temperature to 350º F and bake for another 40 minutes. Insert a toothpick to see if the pie is ready. Remove the pan from the oven, set it aside to cool, and later on, serve with sugar-free whipped cream on top.
Pecan Pie

  • 2 cups sugar-free syrup
  • 1½ cups Splenda
  • 1½ cups pecan halves
  • 1 pie crust
Directions You need to preheat the oven at 350º F before you begin the prep. In the pie shell, spread half the pecan halves evenly. In a bowl, beat all 3 eggs properly. In a pot, combine Splenda with the sugar syrup and bring it to a boil till the Splenda dissolves properly. Now, you need to temper the sugary mix with the beaten eggs. Pour small amounts while you whisk continuously. After the eggs are tempered, pour this mix in the pie shell, over the pecans. Spread the rest of the pecan halves on top and place the pie shell inside the oven for about 40 to 45 minutes. Once the pie is cooked, bring it out, place it on a cookie rack, and let it cool down. Cut the pie into 8 pieces and serve.
Classic Eggnog

Ingredients
  • 5 cups non-fat milk
  • 1 oz sugar-free instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 teaspoon artificial sweetener
  • 1 pinch nutmeg, ground
  • 1 teaspoon rum flavored extract
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon, ground
Directions In a big bowl, you need to combine the pudding mix along with milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, rum extract, and sweetener. Take a whisk and mix the ingredients properly for about 2 to 3 minutes. If you want to make the eggnog less thick, you can add more milk and sweetener, as per your liking.
Gingerbread Cookies

  • 6 tablespoons sugar substitute
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • 3 teaspoons ginger, ground
  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 2 cups bran
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Allspice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1⅓ teaspoon margarine
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
Directions You need to preheat the oven at 350ºF before you begin the prep. In a bowl, combine salt, baking powder, baking soda, flour, bran, cinnamon, and Allspice together. Add 1 teaspoon of margarine in and mix properly; the consistency will look like breadcrumbs. In another bowl, mix sugar substitute, beaten eggs, and orange juice together. Add this mix to the other bowl and mix well. You need to knead the mixture and prepare the dough. Once ready, place the dough over a floured board and roll it gently into 1" thick circle. Before you use the gingerbread-shaped cookie cutter on the dough, grease a baking sheet with the remaining margarine. Place the gingerbread cookies on the sheet and keep the sheet inside the oven for about 15 to 20 minutes. Bake till the cookies turn crispy and slightly brown. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and place the gingerbread cookies on top of the cooling rack. You can serve them as soon as they slightly cool and also store them in an airtight glass jar.
Oatmeal Cookies
Prep Time - 10 mins Cook Time - 20 mins Servings - 36 Calories per Cookie - 126 (approx)
Ingredients
  • 1¼ cups flour
  • 1 cup quick rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon or ginger, ground
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • ⅓ cup margarine
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
Directions You need to preheat the oven at 350ºF. In a blender, beat margarine with brown sugar and water. Add 1 cup flour to the blender and mix properly. Make sure to scrap the sides of the bowl to combine everything properly. Add baking powder, cinnamon or ginger, and the oats in as well. Combine all the ingredients properly so that the dough is ready. Once done, spread the remaining flour over a rolling board and remove the dough from the blender. Knead the dough over the flour and make it slightly stiff. Use a rolling pin and roll the dough out up to 1" thick. Use a cookie cutter (circle or anything other shapes) and remove the cookies. Place them over a greased cookie sheet and inside the oven for about 10 minutes. Once the cookies are golden brown and crispy, remove from the oven and onto a cookie sheet for cooling.
