Flavored Popcorn Recipes

You can spice up bland tasting popcorn into delectable snacks, by converting them into flavored varieties. This article provides some information on the preparation of such recipes.

Popcorn is still the most preferred snack food in movie theaters and sporting events. In fact, a cinema date is not complete, unless it involves popcorn. Usually it is served salted or sweetened, but, you can make it in different flavors at home. So don't waste time, create a theater-like environment in your house, prepare flavored popcorn, and make the most of your leisure days! Method of Preparation This method can be used if you don't have ready-made popcorn. Take ½ cup high quality corn kernels. Heat canola or any other vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add 2-3 kernels and wait till they pop. Then add the remaining kernels, cover the lid, and remove the pan immediately. This brings the corns to a near popping temperature. Keep the saucepan on the heat again. Popping will start instantly; keep the lid slightly ajar to avoid steam buildup, and shake the pan gently in a to-and-fro manner. As soon as popping stops, you can remove the pan and transfer the popcorn into a large bowl. Cheese-flavored Popcorn Ingredients
  • Popcorn, 16 cups (air-popped and low-salt)
  • Butter, 2 tbsp. (melted)
  • Garlic Salt, 2 tsp.
  • Romano Cheese, 2 oz. (grated)
Method Melt the butter and grate the cheese as required. Place the popcorn in a wide bowl. In a small mixing bowl, combine together the butter, cheese, and garlic salt. Stir the mixture well enough till the ingredients are distributed evenly. Pour this concoction over the popcorn. Toss them, so that they are coated with this cheese mixture. Put them in individual bowls and serve. Chocolate-flavored Popcorn Ingredients
  • Popcorn, 12 cups (unsalted and air-popped)
  • Milk Chocolate Chips, 2 cups
  • Corn Syrup, 1 cup
  • Butter, ¼ cup
Method Grease a roasting pan with cooking spray. Transfer the popcorn to it and keep it aside. In a saucepan, combine together the chocolate chips, corn syrup, and butter. Cook this mixture over medium heat till it starts boiling. You may need to constantly stir it to avoid lump formation. Pour it over the popcorn and toss them till they are evenly coated. Preheat oven to 300° F and bake them for about 40 minutes, while stirring occasionally (after every 10 minutes). Remove from the heat and cool them down for serving. • Popcorn, 7-8 qt.
  • Brown Sugar, 2 cups
  • Margarine, ½ lbs.
  • Corn Syrup, ½ cup
  • Baking Soda, 1 tsp.
  • Salt, ½ tsp.
Method In a saucepan, add sugar, margarine, and syrup. Put the pan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boiling temperature between 234° F to 238° F. Add baking soda to this liquid concoction and stir. Remove the mixture from heat and pour it over the popcorn. Preheat oven to 200° F.
