Home Décor on a Budget If you’re like the majority of people, you don’t have thousands of extra dollars to spend on home décor. Everyone wants their home to be nice, cozy, welcoming, and to reflect who they are on the inside. Unfortunately, that can be kind of a tall order for those of us whose home décor budgets are limited. DIY home décor is always nice, but at a certain point our DIY skills have a limit. Luckily, there are a lot of options for people who want to decorate their homes nicely without breaking the bank. Tuesday Morning Tuesday Morning is probably my favorite place to buy things for my home. If you’re the type who cares about brands and labels, you can find many top brands at Tuesday Morning, and everything is always deeply discounted. Unlike some of the other retailers on this list, Tuesday Morning specializes in goods for the home, so they often have a much larger selection than other discount retailers. Of course, the availability of certain items can be limited, and they’re not guaranteed to have anything special in stock, but in general the selection is very good. A lot of my favorite home and kitchen items came from Tuesday Morning, and I didn’t pay too much. Home Goods/TJ Maxx Home Goods' stores are usually attached to TJ Maxx clothing outlets, but I’ve noticed that sometimes home décor items are in TJ Maxx stores without an associated Home Goods. Either way, this is a great place to find deals on well-made housewares and décor. Like Tuesday Morning, they don’t always have everything, but I’m consistently surprised at just how extensive their inventory is. It’s rare that I go to Home Goods looking for something specific and don’t find it. If I can’t find what I want at Tuesday Morning, Home Goods is my second choice. Anthropologie If you know anything about Anthropologie’s clothes, you probably think I am crazy for recommending them as a place to shop for home décor. However, I have found that their home items are much more reasonably-priced than their clothing. And if you are looking for something that’s a little more elegant or unique than what you can find at discount retailers, Anthropologie is a great place to look. Although they generally don’t have a large selection of items for the kitchen, I have seen some great silverware and other dining supplies pass through their showrooms. Unlike Tuesday Morning and Home Goods, you can shop online at Anthropologie’s website. Hobby Lobby Hobby Lobby is good for more than just DIY. They actually have quite a large selection of home décor, including furniture. The great thing about their home décor stock is that they often have items similar to what you would find at Bed Bath & Beyond, for about two-thirds or half the price. My guess is that Hobby Lobby is able to offer lower prices on home décor because it isn’t their primary business. Their selection is sometimes built with an eye toward DIY, but there are plenty of stand-alone goodies to be purchased there. IKEA No list of discount home décor ideas would be complete without a mention of this Scandinavian giant. IKEA has quite literally everything you could possibly want for your home, and probably a few things you never knew you wanted. If it’s furniture you’re after, you can mix, match, and assemble to your heart’s content at IKEA. A few words of warning are in order, though. IKEA’s furniture is very inexpensive because it’s made from particle board, rather than solid wood. This means it’s unfortunately slightly lower in quality than hardwood items. Second, if you take a trip to IKEA, set aside at least a couple of hours! Once you enter the IKEA maze, it isn’t always easy to find your way out.
