Commonly Misspelled Words

There are a myriad of words which people tend to misspell. This article will give you some of the most commonly misspelled words in English.

'Mississippi', 'miscellaneous', 'maneuver', 'lieutenant', etc., are famous examples of commonly misspelled words in English language. In fact, while I am writing this article, I have misspelled the word 'misspelled', thrice! Most people have a tendency to spell words depending on how the words sound. For instance, if someone say a word which may sound like 'leftenunt', he may spell it in the same way it sounds, i.e., 'leftenunt'. However, the actual spelling of this word is 'lieutenant'. The same goes with the word 'champagne'. It is actually pronounced as 'shampeyn', but if we go by the spelling, it will sound something else; funny actually. I hope you are able to grasp the idea. Any word may be a commonly misspelled one; even a word like 'forty' can be misspelled as 'fourty'. Some of you might think how can anyone get the spelling of 'gadget' wrong. But you may be surprised to know that most people do spell it wrong. So as I was saying that almost any word in the English literature may be wrongly spelled, most commonly because of how they sound. But as putting each and every word in black and white was out of the possibility, I enlisted some of the most common words that people spell incorrectly. And if you come across some more words other than the ones listed here, then feel free to put them forth via the comment box provided at the end of the article. Chears! I mean cheers!
