Everybody loves strawberries and enjoy them in one or the other form. Apart from eating them raw, people like to have strawberry in the form of jam, juice, jelly, and so on. There are a lot of ways of baking delicious strawberry cakes. These are perfect for celebrations like birthdays and anniversaries. Traditional Strawberry Cake Ingredients For the Cake
  • Eggs, 4
  • Water, ¼ cup
  • White cake mix, 1 package
  • Strawberry-flavored gelatin powder, 3 ounces
  • Vegetable oil, 1 cup
  • Strawberries (mashed), ¾ cup
For the Icing
  • Strawberries (mashed), ¼ cup
  • Butter, ½ cup
  • Confectioner's sugar, 1 pound
Method
  • Take a large bowl and mix the cake mix and the gelatin powder in it. Slowly fold in the vegetable oil. Lightly beat the eggs, and fold them into the mixture. Add in the water and the strawberries.
  • Take the cake pans and grease them with flour. Pour the mixture into these pans.
  • Bake in an oven at 350 °F for about 30 minutes.
  • To test and see if the cake has baked properly, take a butter knife and insert it into the cake till the bottom and pull it out. If it comes out clean, the cake has baked properly.
  • Cut the cake horizontally into 2 slices. Cool both the slices before serving.
  • To make the icing, beat the butter and the confectioner's sugar till the mixture turns smooth. Add the strawberries and mix thoroughly.
Garnishing Place one slice of the cake on a plate. Spread a layer of the icing and then place the other slice on top of this. Spread the remaining icing over the top and the sides of the cake. You can add slices of fresh strawberry and freeze the cake for some time before serving. Strawberry Short Cake Ingredients
  • All-purpose flour, 2¼ cups
  • White sugar, ½ cup
  • Fresh strawberries, 3 pints
  • Egg, 1
  • Milk, ⅔ cup
  • Whipped cream, 2 cups
  • Baking powder, 2 teaspoons
  • Salt, ¼ teaspoon
  • Shortening, ⅓ cup
  • White sugar, 2 tablespoons
Method
  • First, slice the strawberries and toss them with the white sugar. Set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 425 °F.
  • Grease and flour a round cake pan.
  • In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and white sugar. Use a pastry blender to cut the shortening till it turns into crumbs. Add this to the strawberries.
  • Beat the egg lightly, and fold it into the mixture and then add in the milk.
  • Pour this mixture into the greased and floured cake pan and bake at 425 °F for 15-20 minutes till the cake is golden brown.
  • Let the cake cool down before slicing it into two halves horizontally.
Garnishing Place some strawberries on one slice, and then top them with the other slice. Place some strawberries on this slice as well, and cover them with cream. You can also pour strawberry juice on top of the shortcake before serving.
