Clay Face Mask Recipes

To keep your facial skin looking its best, you should use a clay mask that can help keep it firm, clear, and healthy. Let's take a look at some clay face mask recipes that are known for their healing and restorative properties.

Clay face masks are extremely beneficial for your skin. Including this beauty ritual to your skincare routine, will ensure you have problem-free skin. Usually, clay masks help to draw impurities from the skin, leaving it radiant, free from dirt, and healthy-looking. Because it can suck moisture from your skin, it is an absolute need to moisturize your face, right after you've washed away the clay mask. Gently dab your skin with a clean towelette that is used only for the face, leaving a little dampness behind to help your moisturizer sink into the skin barrier, effectively. This locks in moisture, keeping your skin hydrated and oil-controlled. A clay mask should ideally be applied twice a week, and no more. Homemade Clay Mask Recipes Before applying the mask, cleanse your face using a mild face wash without exfoliating beads; the mask itself will get rid of dead skin and impurities, so avoid over-drying your skin prior to applying the clay mixture. Recipe #1 Take 5 tbsp. of French green clay, 1 cup of distilled water, and 6-7 dried bay leaves. Boil the distilled water and add the leaves to this; let it boil for about two minutes. Now, take the bowl of clay and add the boiled mixture to it. Gradually pour the hot water into it while continuously stirring. Using a facial mask application brush or clean hands, layer your face evenly with the mixture, in an upward direction. Leave it on five minutes before washing it off. Recipe #2 To make this mask, you'll need 5 tsp. of white kaolin clay, ¾ tsp. of green clay, ½ tsp. of glycerin, 3 drops of rose geranium oil, and 2 tbsp. of water (add a little more if the mix isn't pasty enough). Take a bowl and mix both types of clay in this. Add the glycerin and water to form a thick paste, add the geranium oil, last. Once the paste is ready, apply it on your face using upward brush/finger strokes. After 10 minutes, wet your fingers a little and rub your face gently in circular motion for about 10 seconds. Then, wash your face with cold water and blot it dry. Recipe #3 Take 5 tbsp. of French green clay, 1 tbsp. of a facial oil that is appropriate for your skin type―for oily skin, tea tree oil; for dry skin, jojoba oil; and for combination skin, raw milk. Once coalesced, add 2 tsp. of pure honey (Manuka honey is a really good variety). Mix well and apply using a brush. Leave it on for 10 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water. Recipe #4 Take 3 tbsp. of bentonite clay, 1 tsp. of apricot kernel oil, and 2 drops of palma rosa. Mix these well and add water to it while stirring; it should result in a smooth paste, if not, add a little more water. Leave it on for 10 minutes before washing it off with lukewarm water.
