Celebrities You May Not Know Are Scientologists

Tom Cruise isn't the only A-lister from Hollywood who is a dedicated follower of Scientology. The Church of Scientology boasts of an impressive number of Hollywood celebrities, who play a major role in bringing much-needed media coverage from time to time.

Did You Know?
Tom Cruise is often referred to as the 'Face of Scientology', and is considered the most important member after founder L. Ron Hubbard.
Celebrities have always been important for the Church of Scientology. In fact, since 1955 the cult religion has had a special program on recruiting celebrities, titled 'Project Celebrity'. As founder L. Ron Hubbard very clearly said, "Celebrities are very special people and have a very distinct line of dissemination. They have communication lines that others do not have and many medias to get their dissemination through." The Church has always welcomed artists, musicians, actors, and writers with open arms, and also run special 'Celebrity Centers' which are located in Los Angeles, Paris, Nashville, and another unknown location. The popularity of Scientology among Hollywood's elite has always been a favorite topic of tabloids. While Tom Cruise and John Travolta have been quite outspoken regarding their faith, there are also some stars who aren't hiding their relation with the Church, but are also not being too vocal about it.
Peaches Geldof
It's like, I was confused about what path to go through and I feel like I needed a spiritual path. I felt I was lacking something when I didn't have a faith. In the end, all it's about is making yourself a better person. A famous British artist, television presenter, and model, Peaches Geldof is the daughter of Bob Geldof and Paula Yates. She rose to prominence after writing for Elle Girl, The Daily Telegraph, and The Guardian, and has also modeled for various fashion labels. Peaches first spoke about her association with the Church of Scientology in the documentary Fearne and ...
Kirstie Alley
To tell you the honest-to-God truth: without Scientology, I would be dead. So, I can personally highly recommend it. Former Cheers star, Kirstie Alley is one of the most popular faces of American television. The Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning actress was raised in a Methodist environment, but at present is one of the most prominent members of the Church of Scientology. She has often credited the religion in helping her kick her cocaine addiction. She made headlines with a donation of $5 million to the Church of Scientology.
Jenna Elfman
In other philosophies, my questions would get answered to some degree, but then I would have a follow-up question and there would be no answer. The logic would dead-end. In Scientology you can find answers for anything you could ever think to ask. These are not pushed off on you as, 'This is the answer, you have to believe in it.' In Scientology you discover for yourself what is true for you. The cute and lovable Dharma Freedom Finkelstein Montgomery aka Jenna Elfman has been practicing Scientologist since the '90s. It is believed that Elfman converted to Scientology after her marriage to actor Bodhi Elfman. She has been a staunch supporter of her religion's views, continues to promote them, and credits them as a major contributor to the success of her marriage.
Leah Remini
Scientology has been my road out. There is nothing about my life that I feel apathetic or unhappy about. Scientology gives you hope and the certainty that you can improve any condition. This, to me, is priceless. Mostly known for her role as the lovable Carrie Heffernan on The King of Queens, Remini is also a vocal supporter of Scientology, and is often known to get outraged when people question her beliefs. She has promoted the religion on various public platforms and supports the anti-psychiatry Museum Gala.
Laura Prepon
Anyone who knows me is just like, "Wow, if Laura is a Scientologist, then there has to be something to this." When I hear something negative, I don't get defensive. I know what's true for me and what works for me. Best known for her role as Donna on That 70's Show, Prepon's first experience with Scientology came after she started dating Christopher Masterson (brother of co-star Danny Masterson). Though the couple went their separate ways after sometime, Prepon remained a Scientologist and credits the religion for helping her achieve peace and harmony in life.
Juliette Lewis
I am no longer stuck in the bottomless pit of despair and apathy. Having achieved the state of Clear is the single most important thing that I've done for myself. It has allowed me to experience life in a way I only imagined. Juliette Lewis is one of those rare Scientologists who is also a Christian. She doesn't take the religious beliefs of either religion seriously, and regards the principles of Scientology as helpful tools for guidance which teach common sense in this negative society. Lewis isn't a staunch supporter of the movement but does credit it for bringing in positivity in her life.
Bijou Phillips
My grandparents didn't take any pills, and they were fine. Just buck up and get over it. Stop being such a f--king pansy. After Tom Cruise and John Travolta, famous model and actress Bijou Phillips has been one of the most popular supporters of the Church of Scientology with her husband, Danny Masterson (Steven Hyde of That 70's Show). Phillips made headlines when, in 2009, she criticized the usage of psychiatric drugs for treating depression and other illnesses.
Giovanni Ribisi
There is a certain aspect of Scientology that helped me stay on my own path in creating life as a new game. Remembered as the neurotic Frank Jr. Buffay, Giovanni Ribisi is a second-generation Scientologist supporter with his current wife, Agyness Deyn. His twin sister Marissa Ribisi believes in Scientology and is married to musician Beck Hansen, also a Scientologist. Although he is not quite vocal about his association with the religion, he did attend the opening of 'Psychiatry: An Industry of Death', a gala hosted by the Church of Scientology.
Beck Hansen
There's whole aspects (of Scientology) that you probably don't see. They have the success rate of getting hardcore addicts off drugs, 90-something percent maybe. If it's something that helps you in your life it's a positive thing, so all I have to say is that you can't really make a judgment on something unless you know something about it first-hand. Brilliant rock musician Beck Hansen has been a Scientologist all his life. Although he has always been quiet about his association with the cult, his parents are dedicated Scientologists and can be often seen at various promotional events. It has also been reported that he attended the Apple School of Los Feliz, backed by Scientologists. Marissa Ribisi, his current wife, and her brother Giovanni Ribisi are also Scientologists.
Elisabeth Moss
One of the most important things I take from my church is the idea of personal freedom and our rights as human beings, and that includes the right to date a man or a woman. Personal freedom is a very important concept in my religion, and I translate that to sexual orientation. If we're all supposed to have the right to the life that we want to lead, then that should apply to the gay community. There isn't really any dogma or scripture, yes or no, right or wrong on that particular subject in my church. It's more open to personal interpretation, and that's my interpretation. Don Draper's secretary is also a practicing Scientologist. Though Elisabeth Moss has always refrained from commenting on any of the controversies surrounding Scientology, she openly praised the movement's acceptance of the gay and lesbian community members within its ranks.
Anne Archer
Scientology is sanity and if people who aren't in Scientology knew just how sane their lives could be, they would run to find out about it. Anne Archer, the actress from Fatal Attraction is also one of the most popular celebrity Scientologists. She and her husband were originally Christian Scientists but have been associated with the Church of Scientology since 1975. Her son, Tommy Davis, heads the Church of Scientology's Celebrity Center International in Los Angeles.
Sonny Bono
I openly studied Scientology ... and then said thank you and left ... the Scientology-there was no cult thing there. Yes, the Sonny of Sonny & Cher had also dabbled in Scientology for quite sometime. Although he was not vocal about his association with the religion, Sonny does give credit to Scientology for making him realize what's important. It was Mimi Rogers (Tom Cruise's first wife) who introduced him to Scientology, but he has stated himself as Roman Catholic in all his official documents.
Jason Lee
The My Name is Earl star is also a practicing Scientologist. In 2001, his divorce with wife and former Scientologist Carmen Llywelyn was subject to immense media attention. Llywelyn blamed Lee's obsession with the religion for their split. She also mentioned about being declared a SP (Suppressive Person) by the members of the Church, because of her doubts regarding their beliefs.
Other than the above mentioned names, Greta Van Susteren, Erika Christensen, Jason Dohring, Doug E. Fresh, Ethan Suplee, Edgar Winter, Chaka Khan, Lisa Marie Presley, Priscilla Presley, and Nancy Cartwright are also followers of the Church of Scientology. Know some more celebs that are still hush about their beliefs in Scientology? Mention their names in the comment box and I'll surely feature them.
