Irrespective of the story behind it, you can prepare some delicious dishes with the help of the recipes mentioned below. Texas Chili Ingredients
  • Cooking Spray
  • Beef Stew Meat, 2 lbs.
  • Salt, ½ tsp.
  • Onions, 3 cups (chopped)
  • Cumin Seeds, 1 tbsp.
  • Garlic Cloves, 6 (minced)
  • Dry Red Wine, 1 cup
  • White Vinegar, ¼ cup
  • Chili Powder, 2 tbsp.
  • Oregano, 2 tbsp. (dried)
  • Black Pepper, ½ tsp. (cracked)
  • Low-salt Beef Broth, 14¼ oz.
  • Beer, 12 oz.
  • Fresh Cilantro, ½ cup (chopped)
  • Onion, ½ cup (chopped)
  • Fat-free Sour Cream, ½ cup
  • Jalapeño Pepper, 3 tbsp. (finely chopped)
Preparation Firstly, you need to heat a large Dutch oven, after coating it with cooking spray. Heat this over medium-high heat. Now, sprinkle the beef with some salt and pepper. Then, place about half of the beef in a pan and cook it for about 8 minutes. You need to repeat the procedure with the remaining beef. Now, add onions to the pan and sauté it for about 5 minutes. Once it cooks evenly and turns a light shade of brown, add cumin, jalapeño, and garlic. Sauté this for about 1 minute. Then, add the wine and scrape the pan to loosen the browned bits and then, put the beef back into it. Then, stir in the vinegar along with chili powder, dried oregano, and the low-salt beef broth. Bring this to a boil. Cover it and reduce the heat. You must let it simmer for about 1½ hours and also check if the beef is tender. Keep stirring occasionally. Then, uncover and let it simmer. Stir in the cilantro and serve it with onions and sour cream. With Beans Ingredients
  • Beef, 1 lb. (lean and ground)
  • Red Beans, 15 oz. (undrained)
  • Chili Powder, 2 tbsp.
  • Black Beans, 15 oz. (drained and mashed)
  • Cumin, 2 tsp.
  • Tomato Sauce, 15 oz.
  • Chunky Salsa, 1¼ cups
  • Garlic, 1 tsp. (minced)
For Garnish
  • Low Fat Tortilla Chips (crumbled)
  • Reduced Fat Cheddar Cheese
  • Sour Cream
  • Green Onions (sliced)
Preparation Cook the meat until it turns brown. Add all the ingredients to this, (do not add the garnish) and bring the preparation to a boil. Lower this to a gentle boil and cook for about 10 minutes. Spoon the mixture into the bowls and garnish it as desired. With Salsa and Tomatoes Ingredients
  • Canola Oil, 1 tbsp.
  • Onion, 1 (chopped)
  • Red Pepper, 1 (chopped)
  • Tomatoes, 28 oz. (fire-roasted, diced, and with juice)
  • Prepared Salsa, 2 cups
  • Red Kidney Beans, 14 oz. (rinsed and drained)
  • Beef Cubes, 1 lb.
  • Black Beans, 14 oz. (rinsed and drained)
  • Cumin, 1 tsp.
  • Chili Powder, 2 tbsp.
Preparation Heat the oil in a heavy saucepan and add the onions and red peppers to it. Cook for about 3 - 4 minutes, until the vegetables turn soft. Add the beef cubes. Cook this for about 5 minutes and keep stirring frequently. Add all the remaining ingredients to this. Bring it to a boil and reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for about 40 - 45 minutes. Keep stirring occasionally. If you feel the preparation is becoming too thick, then add one cup of water. Wait till it reaches the desired consistency. You can serve this dish with cornbread and a fresh green salad.
