Years of study by Christian theologists around the globe has led to the belief that there will be a day in the near future known as the Last Judgment or the Judgment Day. But, what does this day signify? What does the Bible say about the Judgment Day? What is supposed to occur on this day, and will be warned about the coming of this day? There has been a lot of debate and speculation about the Judgment Day and when is it expected. With the prediction that Harold Camping, the head of the Family Radio Network has made stating that 21st of May 2011 is the Judgment day, there has been a renewed interest in a study of this occurrence seemingly mentioned in the Bible. We try and explain what the Holy book says about this impending phenomenon. The Judgment Day: What the Bible Says The Judgment Day is known by several different names including Final Judgment, Day of Judgment, Last Judgment, and The Day of the Lord. A concept or a phenomenon that finds mention in the various Gospels, especially the Gospel of Matthew, it is believed that this occurrence will take place after the Second Coming of the Christ and the awakening of the dead. This belief is based on many different parts in the Bible. The main sections that form the core of the belief system for Judgment Day are given below.

When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats, and He will set the sheep on His right hand but the goats at the left. Then the king will say to those on His right hand, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in, I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me." ... Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My Brethren, you did it to me. - Matthew 25:31-36 Then He will also say to those on the left hand, "Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave Me no food, I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me." ... "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me." And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. - Matthew 25:41-46 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. - Revelation 20:11-12

There exists a deep belief in the concept of the Last Judgment. According to the Church, this phenomenon will occur after the dead are resurrected and a person's soul is joined back with their physical body. There also lies the belief, again based on the study of the Bible, that at this time, Jesus Christ will come back to earth with his angels. It is then that each man's faith in God will be unveiled and every person will be judged for his actions. The souls in heaven and hell will remain there respectively and those in purgatory will be sent to heaven. After the Last Judgment, the world will be recreated with a new heaven and new earth for the new World that is set to be created. The question that most people ask is when is the Judgment Day supposed to occur according to the Bible. There have been many speculations regarding this Bible prediction and there is no specific time period mentioned. In one of the passages in the Bible, there is a mention of when the Last Judgment will occur, but this is an open ended mention. The section, which suggests the probably period of occurrence is mentioned below.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night - 2 Peter 3:10

As can be understood plainly, the analogy made is such that it is impossible to predict with certainty the day of the Last Judgment. The reason there has been renewed talk about the Judgment day is because of the claim that Harold Camping made in his interview with New York News and Features, wherein he said that May 21st, 2011 is the day of the Last Judgment and that it will start with a massive earthquake. This may though just be the latest in many predictions about the Judgment day that have been made in the past. Now you know that there is no mention in the Bible about the day when the world will end.
