A healthy weight is essential for the overall well-being of an individual. The acceptable range for each individual depends on his/her age and height. Less than normal weight can be a result of altered metabolism, poor nutrition, hormonal disturbances, as well as certain hereditary factors.
Some of the measures to gain weight include the consumption of energy-dense and protein-rich foods, nutritional supplements, as well as specific protein-rich drinks and shakes. Given below are a few simple recipes for the same.
Weight Gain Drinks Recipes
Peanut Butter Mocha
- Chocolate protein powder, 2 scoops
- Heavy whipping cream, 1 tbsp.
- Natural peanut butter, 1 tbsp.
- Water, 12 ounces
- Ice cubes, 4
Mix all the ingredients (except ice) in a bowl, and blend them together on medium speed for about ten seconds. Transfer to a serving glass, and add the ice cubes. If the consistency is too thick, add a few more cubes of ice. If you want to savor it along with breakfast, you may add 12 ounces of coffee instead of water.
Strawberry Chocolate Drink
- Chocolate protein powder, 1-2 scoops
- Water, 6-8 ounces
- Strawberries, 8
- Ice cubes, 4
For this easy-to-make drink, simply blend all the ingredients together, for about one minute, on medium speed. Pour the shake in a tall glass, and add more ice cubes if desired. Cut a strawberry, and place it on the edge of the glass, for decoration.

- Protein powder, 1 scoop
- 1% Skim lactaid (or soy milk), 1 cup
- Water, ½ cup
- Decaffeinated instant coffee, 2 tsp.
- Hazelnut mocha sugar-free flavoring, 3-4 drops
- Ice cubes, 3
Mix all the all ingredients in a large bowl, until a thick paste is formed. Then blend them in a blender for about 1 minute, or until a desired consistency is achieved. Add some extra ice cubes if you wish, and drink immediately.
Mixed Fruit Drink
- Whole milk, 3 cups
- Yogurt (vanilla-flavored), 8 ounces
- Bananas, depending on size & preference, 1-2
- Chocolate protein powder, 1 scoop
- Strawberries, ½ cup
- Blueberries, ½ cup
- Wheat Germ, 1 tbsp.
First, blend the yogurt for about five seconds. Cut the bananas into large chunks, and add them to the blender. Add whole milk and protein powder, and blend all the ingredients together. To this mixture, add the wheat germ, strawberries, and blueberries. Blend for a minute or so, and serve. If the shake is too thick, add a couple of ice cubes. You can also refrigerate the shake for a while, if desired.
Such high-protein drinks aim to increase body weight, in a healthy manner. The combination of milk and fruits provides the necessary nutrients like carbohydrates, fiber as well as vitamins, whereas the protein powders provide the additional proteins and amino acids required. These drinks must be supplemented with a wholesome diet and regular exercise.
