Sometimes, this problem resolves itself, however, many times, the problem persists. If water stays inside the ear canal for a long time, it can become painful and can lead to ear infections. There are many remedies for removing water which is stuck in ear after a shower or a swim. How to Get Rid of Water in Your Ear There are several ways in which you can get rid of this annoying feeling at home itself. You can try them one by one and see which one works for you. Never let water stay inside your ears for days, as this will allow the bacteria to grow in the ear canal, leading to severe ear pain and acute ear infection. Using Gravity One of the best ways to get rid of water in ear is to let the gravity work on it. For performing this simple exercise, tilt the affected ear towards the ground until your ear is parallel to the ground. Gravity will naturally drain the water that is stuck in your ear. If you feel that water is still trapped in your ear canal, then you can hit your head gently with the palm of your hand. Using Alcohol and White Vinegar One quick and effective remedy is to use alcohol and white vinegar. Soak a cotton ball in a mixture of white vinegar and alcohol, which is in the ratio of 1:1. Now lie down straight on your side, keeping the affected ear facing the ceiling. Press the ball over your affected ear, so that 2 - 3 drops of the liquid falls into your ear. Wait for sometime, and using the gravity method, try to remove the clogged water. The mixture dries up the water through evaporation. Using a Hairdryer One good method of removing water is to use a hairdryer. Set your hairdryer to a low setting and then direct the nozzle to the ear in which water is stuck. Make sure that you do not hold the nozzle too close to your ear. Within a few minutes, the water in your ear will dry out. If this method does not work for you, do not increase the temperature setting of the hairdryer. You will end up burning the delicate skin of your face and ear. Using Baby Oil Another good remedy for water stuck in ear is to use warm baby oil. With the help of a dropper, allow a few drops of warm baby oil into the affected ear. Lie down for some time and pull your earlobe upwards to make sure that the oil enters all the way through the ear canal. After some time, the water will drain out from the ear. These were some easy, time-tested and trusted ways in which you can get rid of water in ear. To prevent severe ear infections like swimmer's ear, avoid having water stuck in ear for weeks. If all these fail, you should contact an ENT specialist, who can prescribe you ear drops to get rid of this problem.
