Top 10 Books for Young Adults

Have you been on the lookout for the top 10 books for young adults? This article is meant for you. Take a look at what are the best picks...

For all one knows, there does not exist a time-machine so successful and so (un)real. Books, they say, take you by storm with their fascinating phenomena, mystery, romance, thrill, and paranormal activities. It's stunning to see the influence of fiction, vampire fiction to be precise, that has led to teenagers, once addicted to video games and PlayStations, drop their gaming consoles by the wayside and hook on to turn pages of the bestsellers written by rich-scale authors, JK Rowling and Stephanie Meyer to name a few. Really, what is it that makes these books so popular among young adults? Is it their identification, and later on fixation, with the protagonist? Is it so them? Is it empathy? Whichever way you look at it, the trend of scribbling black ink over white paper is witnessing new heights, and young adults are a big reason for that. With that said, allow me to put forth my picks on the most popular books for young adults, too difficult to miss out on. Wait, scorn out the discrepancies, I plead. 1. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer The first installment of a phenomenon that helped people move over Harry Potter, Twilight, written by Stephenie Meyer, is a tale of Isabella Swan, a seventeen year old girl who falls in love with Edward Cullen, who is a vampire. The more she tries to come closer to him, the more the guy shoves her away. Those initial stages of attraction, those stolen glances, that feeling of love, and a mystery eventually unveiled... Twilight cannot be called a conventional vampire novel, for it's love, not blood, that oozes out all throughout. Twilight, for its own reasons, ranks numero uno in the list of the best vampire books for young adults. Maybe, it's its popularity. 2. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling He was never a star. He never knew how to ride a broom. He had absolutely no idea how to Alohomora locked doors and how to Wingardium Leviosa objects. All he knew was a miserable life with the Dursleys, a torturing Uncle, and a spoiled bull called Dudley. Howbeit, today, he's one of the most influential characters for not only the teenagers but adults too. Harry Potter, with his Quidditch game, and two treasured friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, took the world by storm with adventures unreal and experience wizardly. If you haven't read this one, you're unbelievable! Go, grab this one, for it's surely a must-have best seller book for young-bloods! 3. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick It wasn't planned for Nora Grey, the protagonist. Romance was never her cup of tea, until Patch came and bemused him, regardless of the terrifying encounters. However, she loses trust in people with time, and life, the terrible phenomenon that it is, sets her in the middle of a battle between the immortal and the ones that have fallen. That's Hush, Hush for you. Beautifully penned by Becca Fitzpatrick, this novel touches the life of everyone who reads it. When it comes to choosing sides, it always takes away the life of you to choose the wrong one, and this is what the author tries to convey. Undoubtedly, it's a novel that is meant to be well received! 4. Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle How wouldn't I mention this mysterious tale while enlisting the top 10 books to read for young adults? He might be a fictional detective created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but let me tell you one thing, think twice before you say nothing can mesmerize you, for this detective in all his books, boggles your mind with his wittiness and drollness. Pick up any adventure of Sherlock Holmes, and you would realize that I am right. Know the biggest challenge? Putting the book down once you've started on with reading! 5. The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot All you female readers out there who've dreamed of becoming a princess (even the ones who already are one), grab a copy of The Princess Diaries which depicts teenage angst, love, betrayal, all through a very assertive eye of Meg Cabot. It's a story of a young Mia who is subjected to adolescent turmoil, that every teenager goes through. What's interesting to read is her ongoing journal as a princess of royal decent where she explores the various shades of life, emotions, and feelings. If this allures you too, The Princess Diaries serves its purpose of being an interesting read for teenagers who are fraught with similar distress. 6. The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien Christened as one of the best books for readers who savor the dark side of life, The Lord of the Rings (Trilogy) cruises through the Middle Earth, illustrating the exceptional courage, strong will and staunch faith in the power of good. If wars and battles allure you, this trilogy endows you an experience of a battle between Saruman, Sauron and the humans along with Elves and Dwarfs. So, whether you are sitting at home wondering what to pick up as a good book to give a read to, what could be an alternative to kill time, or how could you experience wars and battles just by turning a few pages... The Lord of the Rings makes up for it. Don't believe me? Give it a try once. 7. House of Night: Marked by P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast If you're already through with the Twilight Series, the House of Night series waits for you with arms wide open. It's a world very much like ours, except for Zoey Redbird's, a 16-year old girl, in which vampires always existed. Marked is the first installment of the House of Night series and narrates the tale of Zoey Redbird who enters the House of Night, which is a school where she, after her transformation into a vampire, will train to become an adult vampire, if only she makes it through the change. Another treat to the list of the best vampire books ever created, this also ranks way up high in the list of the top 10 books to read for young adults. 8. A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle Life takes a turn for the worse when Meg's father mysteriously disappears, after tipping his hand on the fifth dimension of time travel. It is then that Meg, along with her friends decides to rescue him, little knowing that the forces of evil she's going to confront are going to suck the life out of her. A wonderful composition by Madeleine L'Engle, this tale depicts a heart-stopping journey through space and time, and received the Newbery Medal award for the same reason. Perhaps, that's why it's here in this list. 9. The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis You wanted a few options for young adults, didn't you? Astonishingly, The Chronicles of Narnia stands pat in every list of must-read books you'll ever see. You should read this book thrice in life - teenage, adulthood, and anytime in life. This best selling novel (or should I say chronicle?) illustrates the life of four children who travel every now and then to a world where they are much, much more than just kids. With its supreme narration, fascinating characters, and perfect detailing, The Chronicles of Narnia is a treat to read, all thanks to the very talented C. S. Lewis who beautifully depicted the eternal issues between good and evil, and faith and hope. Definitely, a must-read! 10. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee Last but not the least, I include To Kill a Mockingbird in my list of classics everyone should read. Reason? Lawyer Atticus Finch. Thus and so. It is this person who defends the real mockingbird of Lee's tale, who is a black man charged with the rape of a white woman. What strikes the chord in readers is Harper Lee's rich humor and unquestioned honesty that he shows all throughout the novel. By means of the eyes of Atticus's children, Harper Lee beautifully explores adult attitudes towards racism in the South during the 1930s. For young adults who are zealous about the cultures that life enfolds, this book is, by far, the best book they can turn to. Pretty sure as I am, with my personal listing, I must have produced many haters. However, the fame the above famous novels garnered, and the skills with which they were written left me speechless, and if our stars are in alignment, they did their trick on you too, didn't they? I'll earnestly wait for your favorite novels, the ones which made you think about your life from a different point of view, and the ones that stayed with you for long, even after the last page was turned. For the purpose of this article, these were my recommended books for young adults. Whatever you say, all I know is, for book readers, it's, undoubtedly, a great time.
