Top 10 Scariest Clown Movies Ever

This incident rubbed the whole clown community the wrong way and now they are full of spite for kids and adults, alike. We don't know what but they are real nasties. Check out the 10 scariest clown movies ever and get a clown attack.

"I remain just one thing, and one thing only, and that is a clown. It places me on a far higher plane than any politician." - Charlie Chaplin
Nobody is amused with clown appearances anymore. You will not find a gentleman holding his wobbling paunch in hilarity or a certain Uncle Chris banging his glass on the table as an approval of enjoyment when a clown is frisking around. And if some braveheart does put up a show of amusement, be sure he or she is going to sleep the whole night with every light in the house switched on. So, how did clowns transition from being genuinely rib-tickling funny dudes to maniacally scary horror entities? Allow us to drag you back in time, as long as 2400 BCE in ancient Egypt. The first ever non-malign specimen of clown surfaced in this period and provided some light moments to the Egyptian royalty. It also sent a roaring laugh in the Greek and Roman societies. One clown of a good repute called Joseph Grimaldi in the 18th century gave the Englishman a good timepass which was other than minding his castle. Grimaldi can be credited to molding the archetypal image we have of clowns today - bizarre make-up, colorful costumes, red-speckled cheeks, (he even donned a mohawk) and unruly absurdity. However, beneath this seemingly humorous facade lied mounds of tragedies and depression. Grimaldi, despite his popularity as a funny man died as a broke and an alcoholic. Charles Dickens, the famed English writer was entrusted with the task of editing Grimaldi's memoirs. Dickens kind of became fixated with Grimali's grim and dark life and chose to underscore it in the biography more than other aspects of his life. His portrayal of Grimaldi was enmeshed with dark and troubled facets of his life. So, in short we can blame Charles Dickens for implanting a scary image of clowns in our minds. Those with pale hearts, read and watch the following list of creepy clown movies at your own risk.

We know some people who have given up sleeping on bed. There are some who will never in the name of Good Lord look under their bed. And this is because they don't fancy getting surprised by creepy clowns. The scene in which the clown doll stares at Robbie with that ends-splitting grin is plain frightening. One smart advice - clown dolls don't make good toys because they are most likely to strangle you if they don't like you. Don't buy them.

Now, now, this story is about a clown named Gurdy who is falsely incriminated for crimes he hasn't committed. The consequences are pretty predictable. The clown gets on his vindictive mode and goes on murder rampage. And as if this was not enough, two crass muckrakers are hot on his trail to advance in their journalistic career. The consequences again, are predictable. Advice here - never wrong an honest clown or else you will be wronged, BIG TIME.

Those with acute fear of clowns, there's not a snowball's chance in hell that this movie was made with the intent to dispel your fears. On the contrary, it will make you jump out of your skin even with the harmless utterance of the word 'clown'. The story is based around this guy named Casey who has coulrophobia (fear of clowns). His worst nightmare turns into a gruesome reality after three loony bin inmates escape from carnival and go around house to house doing their creepy clown catwalk and killing people. We are too freaked out to give any advice.

This one is a totally suffused with clown mania. As if the thought of being invaded by aliens wasn't scary enough that the makers of this movie gave our fear the worst appearance of fear. But people always weren't scared of clowns, you know. So, when they saw a circus tent-like spaceship with colorful congregation of clowns, they thought they were happiness ambassadors. But these were aliens in clown's clothing, which is a bad combo after all. Their true intention, however, is soon revealed after they go around turning people into cotton candy cocoons. Real nasties, we say.
It

Actors: Harry Anderson, Dennis Christopher, Richard Masur, Annette O'Toole, Tim Reid.
Released: November 18, 1990 - November 20, 1990
Duration: 178 minutes
This 1990 psychological horror was broadcasted as a two-part television movie as the makers must have thought that if they released it in theater only few would be spooked by it, hence they came up with this grand plan of scaring every living person in America. Tim Curry's interpretation of Pennywise the Dancing Clown was the last straw that broke the camel's back - the kids already didn't show any signs of amusement with the clowns around and this movie gave them a reason for life to be terrorized by them. The basic premise is that of a clown whose sadistic mission is that of creeping people out with their worst fears, going into hibernation, and coming back with a bang with more evil plans of torturing people.
The Devil's Rejects
Director: Rob Zombie
Producer: Mike Elliott, Andy Gould, Marco Mehlitz, Michael Ohoven
Actors: Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon Zombie, Ken Foree, Matthew McGrory.
Released: July 22, 2005
Duration: 109 minutes
Clowns aren't just scary but are also repulsive and you would agree with our opinion as you will see this heinous serial clown killer with rotten teeth and smudged make-up (clowns are sensitive about their make-up and we know that). Captain Spaulding is the patriarch figure of the sadistic Firefly family, a family with questionable morality. All we can say is, he is the vilest clown ever-known to humankind with scarce attention to hygiene.
Amusement
Director: John Simpson
Producer: Neal Edelstein, Merideth Finn, Mike Macari, Udi Nedivi
Actors: Keir O'Donnell, Katheryn Winnick, Laura Breckenridge, Jessica Lucas.
Released: January 20, 2009
Duration: 85 minutes
There is nothing remotely amusing about Amusement. So our clown antagonist has some apple of discord with adolescent girls as he stalks and attacks them insanely. There are three intertwined stories - mad clown who feels deep animus toward three girls. The plot as a whole, is a bit labyrinthine and perplexing, but even if you can't make heads or tails with the plots, there are enough clown-y chills to scare you out of your wits. There is one particularly frightening scene when Tabitha (second plot protagonist) stumbles on this crazy room larded with clown toys at her aunt's place with one exceptionally over-sized clown sitting on a rocky chair. And there's no guessing for who that can be.
Funny Man
Director: Simon Sprackling
Producer: Nigel Odell
Actors: Christopher Lee, Pauline Black, Tim James, Benny Young.
Released: October 7, 1994
Duration: 90 minutes
An advice to chronic poker game players - if you happen to win some ancestral home in a game of poker, don't just thank your stars as yet, for they might be seriously misaligned and waiting to burst on you in the form of a demonic clown. So, Funny Man is about this madcap clown whose antics will make you guffaw and cringe simultaneously. This jester is maniacally evil but he is one hell of a wisecracker. He makes it a point to deliver funny one-liners after he bumps off his victims. Whatever that be, this still won't make us hug him and sleep at night.
Drive-Thru
Director: Brendan Cowles, Shane Kuhn
Actors: Leighton Meester, Nicholas D'Agosto, Melora Hardin, Larry Joe Campbell, Lola Glaudini.
Released: May 29, 2007
Duration: 91 minutes
We are sure Ronald McDonald suffered a blow to his image after this movie was released. There is nothing more affrighting and weird than a clown mascot going ballistic and killing innocent junk food craving customers. But there is one braveheart or unwisely bold called Mackenzie Carpenter who is willing to risk her life to protect the people she knows from the vengeful Horny. But Ms. Carpenter isn't privy to Horny's invincible powers and just when she thought she burned him down, it was Horny shedding off his clown costume actually (he wore that throughout the movie, you know) and soon resumes his work as a menacing clown mascot.
Fear of Clowns
Director: Kevin Kangas
Producer: Rick Ganz, Kevin Kangas
Actors: Rick Ganz, Mark Lassise, Jacqueline Reres.
Released: October 28, 2004
Duration: 120 minutes
Fear of Clowns is centered around an artist who has coulrophobia, tell us about it. So this artist is throughout the movie creeped by a schizophrenic clown called Shivers who believes that the only way to purge of his mental condition is by torturing Lynn (the artist). So Shivers livens up the movie with his unhinged mental condition with a weird grease paint and moves heaven and earth to scare Lynn. Genuine advice to artists - never accept commissions that require you to paint your nightmare, no matter how ridiculous the offer is.
Some of these clowns were products of abuse, mental condition, torture, and a lot more. You may shed a tear or two on their tragedies but still you just won't lend them your shoulder to cry on, as the next moment you will realize that you are without it.
