Growing older is inevitable. Women, especially, are ruled by the calendar, with the social norms wrapped tightly around their leg, while expectations pile a mile high. Reaching a certain age means finding a job, followed by a husband, having kids, and so on and so forth. But hold on a second, before you get into all that, there's so much more to experience, like having a ball or getting into a brawl or doing something crazy, so that when you look back, you won't be able to stop smiling at your craziness. And all of this must be experienced before you tie the knot. If you are wondering why you need to do this before you get married, it is because, the life as you know and lead now will change entirely after you say your "I Do". So before you tie the knot, try our bucket list of things to do.
Earn Some Moolah
If you don't already have a job, it's time to get out there and find one. Get a job that will not just pay the bills but also give you something to look forward to the next morning. A job not only teaches you to be responsible but also the value of money. It also instills discipline in your life and gives you financial freedom and respect.
A Trip With Your Gal Pals
You've worked hard, now it's time to party harder. Kick back your heels and take a trip with your gal pals. Plan a weekend trip or a road trip, a cruise, or something else that will involve you and your besties. The destination really doesn't matter, as long as you are together!
Splurge On Yourself
Treat yourself to a day at the spa, new clothes, shoes, or a bag. After a long day of pampering, sit back, relax, and help yourself to a glass of wine and a lovely piece of chocolate cake. Go ahead honey, splurge a little on yourself, you deserve it.
Romantic Fling
Flings are fun, aren't they! You don't have to go all the way, just have some fun with casual dating, blind dates, speed dating, just some simple harmless flirt-fest. Take a chance and meet someone new. You never know, you might just find the one you were looking for.
Live Alone
Roommates are okay, but autonomy is awesome! Living alone is very empowering for a strong, single, and independent woman. It not just makes you value the people and family around you, but also teaches you to be responsible.
Learn To Cook
Learn to cook not just because eating out everyday is expensive and unhealthy, but because it reassures you that you can take care of yourself. If you absolutely don't know your way through the kitchen, join a weekly workshop or look it up online.
Know Yourself
It is easy to get carried away in life and forget your true self. So, begin with forgiving yourself and letting go of your past. De-clutter your mind and learn to love yourself and the skin you're in. Don't bully yourself, and learn to accept yourself the way you are. Tell yourself that it's okay if you're a little overweight, love yourself nevertheless. Remind yourself of your core values, understand your goals in life, and learn more about yourself. Take up a new hobby, like an exotic dance or scuba diving or something else that you wanted to learn but was too scared to try. Attempt something new and rediscover yourself, it is truly a liberating experience.
Face Your Fears
If you're afraid of it, you must try it at least once in your life. Be it public speaking, bungee jumping, skydiving, having dinner alone, confronting someone, or getting inked (tattooed). And it goes without saying that you must perform some of these activities under the supervision of a professional.
Take A Trip Alone
Now my fearless diva, it's time to travel again. But this time, you are traveling alone. Take a cruise, road trip, go backpacking, go anywhere safe. It's worth the trip. Meet new people, make new friends, visit new places, and soak in some culture.
Create Something
Last but not the least, create something. It doesn't matter what you make, as long as you try your hand at something creative that you can keep on your mantle or around the house. It'll remain there as a constant reminder that you made something great. Consider pottery, jewelry making, knitting, crochet, stitching, small DIY (do it yourself) weekend projects like wine bottles or mason jar lamps.
Don't just live your life because you are breathing and your heart is still beating, but lead it without regrets of not trying something that was worth trying. You will always come out stronger and better than you were before.
