So if you want to information on making interesting and beautiful centerpieces, keep reading ahead in this article.
DIY Candle Centerpieces
Option 1
  • For long tables, spread a jute table runner and place tall candle holders at equal distance.
  • Place black or any colored pebbles at the bottom of the holders; just 3-4 would do.
  • Keep orange-colored candles on top of the pebbles in such a way that it won't topple or turn sideways.
  • Along the runner, you can place more candles, coffee beans, and fake twigs.
  • Make sure you spread all the decorative items evenly across the table. This way, your table won't look cluttered.
Option 2
  • Use an earthen pot for this centerpiece. If you can find one with decorative holes in it, better.
  • Here, you can place either tealight candles or any other colored candles (depending on the depth of the pot).
  • To decorate the table, take a few dried or fake maple leaves and place them in the center of the table.
  • Place the pot on top and light the candle before everyone sits for dinner.
  • As you can see in the picture, we have placed a few pumpkin-shaped candles as well. You too can try this idea.
Option 3
  • If you wish to decorate a small table, you can find inspiration from your pantry itself.
  • All you require is a large orange, tealight candles, and spices.
  • Using a sharp knife, carefully cut a small opening at the top of the orange. You want to make the opening as big as the tealight candle's radius.
  • Gently, place the tealight candle at the top and press it in. Make sure that the wick of the candle is above the opening.
  • Insert a few cloves as shown in the picture. Keep the orange in the center of the table and place other spices (nutmeg, star anise, cinnamon sticks, etc.) around the orange.
  • And there you have it. Your centerpiece is ready. Once the dinner is over, you can replace the spices back in the pantry.
Option 4
  • For a more intimate setting, you'll require couple of figurines, dried or fake leaves, candles (colors depending on your choice), and a small basket.
  • As we used the decoration idea in Option 2, place the dried leaves in the center of the table.
  • Keep the basket over the leaves along with the candles inside it.
  • Put the figurines on either side and wait for the guests to be impressed.
  • You can even keep the entire centerpiece on a big, round tray for a more elegant look.
DIY Bowl Centerpieces
Option 1
  • As flowers are refreshing and don't require much detailing, you can use them as centerpieces for the dining or coffee table.
  • Here, you'll require a wooden bowl (size depends on you), flowers (Gerbera, lilies, roses, sunflowers, etc.), water, and wicker placemat.
  • Keep one or more (depending on how big the table is) wicker placemat on the table.
  • Fill the bowl with water (you can even add a few drops of essential oil for fragrance).
  • Place only the flower buds, no stems, and float them over the water.
  • Keep the bowl on top of the placemat; your centerpiece is ready.
Option 2
  • Similar to Option 1, this centerpiece needs a decorative bowl, placemat, water, flowers, and few fake or dried leaves.
  • Keep the placemat in the center of the table, along with the dried leaves on top. You can arrange them however you want.
  • Fill the bowl with water, place the flowers in the bowl, and keep it on the placemat.
  • You can even spread a few petals over the placemat to give it an elegant look.
Option 3
  • This centerpiece is easy, quick, and won't cost you a dime.
  • First things first, you need a decorative bowl to place the potpourri mix in. Make sure it's fancy so that it enhances the entire centerpiece's appearance.
  • Go in your yard and search for pinecones, dried leaves and flowers, twigs, and dried flower petals.
  • Regardless of which items you choose, all of it has to be completely dry or else moisture may dampen the entire centerpiece.
  • Arrange the items in the bowl, as per your choice, and place the centerpiece in the middle of the table.
Option 4
  • For our next centerpiece, we'll make an autumn citrus potpourri.
  • The items required are a bowl or a tray, candle, twigs, pinecones, orange and lemon peels.
  • You can either get a readymade citrus potpourri mix or make one at home.
  • To prepare your own mix, you need to collect all the dry items.
  • As for the citrus peels, cut orange and lemon slices (thin), place them in paper towels, and let it soak all the juices.
  • After that, place the slices in sun for sometime; till the slices are completely dry.
  • Arrange all the items inside the bowl and place your centerpiece on the table.
Option 5
  • There are many grocery stores and even departmental stores that have dry flower tea packets.
  • Pick the flavors you like because these are going to be the theme of your centerpiece.
  • If you're choosing more than one or two, pick a wide variety.
  • Take ceramic bowls (depending on the number of mixes you have) and a long tray.
  • Fill the bowls with the dry flower teas and place them on the tray.
  • The tray goes in the middle of the table and your centerpiece is ready.
Option 6
  • As you can see in the picture, you'll require 3 different sized wooden bowls, scoops, and flax seeds.
  • For this centerpiece, if you don't have flax seeds and don't wish to buy any, use lentils and nuts instead.
  • Fill the bowls with flax seeds or lentils and stack them on top of one another (as seen in the picture).
  • You can also use mint or parsley leaves as garnish on the topmost bowl.
  • This gives your centerpiece a great color and dimension.
  • Keep more than two of these centerpieces on the table.
DIY Glass Centerpieces
Option 1
  • For our first glass centerpiece, you'll require two tall candle holders, candles (various colors), uncooked corn, and other nuts.
  • Place the corn at the bottom of the candle holder. We don't require the corn to be cooked here.
  • You can also add uncooked kidney beans and garbanzo beans. This way, the overall layout through the glass candle holder will look appealing.
  • Either mix everything together or make various layers of all.
  • At the end, place the candle properly in and light it once your guests arrive.
Option 2
  • In order to make the centerpiece, you will have to do some research in the grocery store.
  • Search for either cherry peppers, Scotch Bonnets, rocotillo chile, or any other round, mini peppers.
  • Take a dozen or so, a glass vase or jar, and water.
  • Bind the peppers with a string, fill water in the jar, and place the peppers in.
  • You can even add a few sprigs of chives along with the peppers.
  • Place the jar in the center of the table right before dinnertime.
Option 3
  • Similar to Option 1, here we will use nuts instead of corn and legumes.
  • Get glass candle holders, walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, and any other nuts you may like.
  • Fill them in the candle holders one by one in layers or mix them up; the choice is yours.
  • To give it a unique look, you can even remove the walnut shells and place a few nuts in as it is.
  • Just make sure, when you place the candle on top, it doesn't topple or tip over.
Option 4
  • This centerpiece is very simple to make. You require a glass vase, fancy lace (search your favorite craft store for one), candle (if you want), and dry or fake leaves.
  • First we will secure the lace over the vase. For that, you need to tie a bow on the vase.
  • You can also wrap the entire vase with the lace; that's entirely up to you as to how you wish to decorate the vase.
  • Now make a bouquet of dry leaves and properly secure it at the opening of the vase.
  • You can place a candle over it, if you want.
  • Place the vase in the center of the table and that's it, your centerpiece is finished.
These were some easy Thanksgiving centerpieces you can make at home, that won't cost a lot. Remember, don't add too much decoration around the house. Less is always better as it will always bring out the elegance in your decoration. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
