Signs of a Good Interview

Are you confused whether your interview went well or not? Read the following article to know some of the definite signs of a good interview.

So you dressed immaculately for the interview, answered all the questions that the panel posed, to the best of your ability, and returned home with a smile on your face. But wait a minute! In your enthusiasm for answering the questions, you almost forgot how the session went through! Not to worry though, given below are the signs of a good interview, which will help to ascertain whether you have been successful in your job search or not. Calls for Next Round If you have been called for the next round, you can be sure that the company has liked you. Any manager will not waste his time with candidates in whom he sees no potential. So, if you have been called for the next round, it means that the manager sees you as a possible candidate to join the organization. Longer Time Usually, if the management has liked a candidate, they would spend a lot more time with him, discussing and answering his questions about the organization, explaining him the company culture, his future jobs and responsibilities, etc. This is their way of selling the position to a candidate he wants in his team. So, if your round has lasted more than the scheduled time and a large part of it went in the manager answering your queries, it shows that the session went well. Discusses Salary Expectations and Joining Date One of the surest indications that your meeting went well is when a manager asks you the date you can join the organization, i.e., how much time the formalities to leave your last organization will take. If along with this, the hiring manager has discussed your salary expectations, it means that the manager sees you as one of the possible candidates who would be joining his organization. Asking about your salary expectations is his means of estimating how much he will be investing in you. Asks For Reference If, at the end of the session, you are asked for your references for your background check, it shows that he is taking the next step to test you as a potential candidate. Introduces other Team Members Another indication that your round went well is when the manager introduces you to his other team members after the conversation. A manager will do this only if he has almost made up his mind to hire you. Displays Positive Body Language If the HR displays positive body language, it is one of the positive indications. If you find him extremely polite, smiling, and nodding as you answer the questions, listening to you carefully, in short, looking interested, it shows that he has liked you. However, if you see him going through the whole process hurriedly, not asking you many questions and uninterested in your answers, it shows that he does not mean to hire you. Makes Future Plans If the manager, during the conversation, starts making plans as to how you would be handling the work, making improvements, changes, etc., it indicates that he already sees you working on the position you have applied for. So, if a candidate sees the manager discussing the work responsibilities with him, then one of the tips for candidates is to suggest the manager some useful or better ways of doing the job. This will surely seal his candidature! Stays in Touch If, at the end of the session, the manager gives you his business card and asks you to call him for further queries, it shows that he is willing to give you some more of his time, i.e., he is interested in you. If the HR manager tells you definitely that he is going to contact you on a particular day or date, it shows that they are favorably considering you for the position. Remember, that the above points do not indicate 100% that you have got the job for sure. There might be just one job opening and could be that someone performed better than you. Still, these points indicate one thing - you were among the best ones interviewed!
