Movies-inspired Romantic Date Ideas
NOTEBOOK
Nicholas Sparks' romantic tearjerker, The Notebook encompasses scenes after scenes that touch every romantic's heart, and to be honest, Noah (played by Ryan Gosling) knows how to romance a girl―his love interest in the movie being Allie (played by Rachel McAdams). The couple fall head over heels in love and soon become inseparable. We decided to take a leaf out of Noah's book and recreate a scene so that your romantic date turns out memorable and dreamy. Noah and Allie, on meeting up after many years, coast out on a canoe, with the date ending in an epic lovemaking scene. What You Can Do: Taking cue, you can rent a canoe and paddle out with your partner, although we can't assure you being surrounded by a flock of swans. If it rains, well, there's nothing like it. Have fun while the day lasts (wink!)
TITANIC
Who didn't go weak in the knees over Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Rose (Kate Winslet) and their undying love that refused to die in spite of the tragic sinking of the Titanic. Time and again, you may watch, yet can't get enough of, this epic love saga. Which takes us towards the unforgettable drawing scene where Jack sketches Kate when she asks, "Draw me like one of your French girls, Jack." What You Can Do: Do up a room in your apartment as if it belonged to an artist. Just like the epic scene, you too can sketch each other (having your clothes on or not is entirely your choice!) Imitate Jack and Rose for a day because it's only gonna make it that extra special, right guys? P.S. There are several lovey-dovey scenes that occur between Jack and Rose while they are on the ship. You could take a cue from them. Book a cruise, spend some time on the deck, order some champagne, dance ... well, we guess reprising and recreating the movie scenes is in itself idyllic.
THE VOW
Another sentimental love tale, the movie revolves around Paige Collins (Rachel McAdams) and Leo (Channing Tatum) who, within 10 weeks of wedded bliss, are involved in a grave car accident in which Paige loses her memory. For the remainder of the story, Leo spends time courting his wife. Well, right before the tragic turn of events, Paige and Leo exchange wedding vows when they get married. In Leo's words - "I vow to fiercely love you in all forms, now and forever. I promise to never forget that this is a once in a lifetime love. ..." While Paige said, "I vow to help you love life, to always hold you with tenderness, and to have the patience that love demands ..." What You Can Do: We don't know if you wrote or plan to write your own vows, but we assure you, it's a great date idea. Take turns writing down vows that you pledge to fulfill together. In fact, you can write one line and the next line can be written by your partner. Now, how cool, err sorry, romantic is that? Get silly, sentimental, laugh, and "aww" at each other while sharing your VOWS.
A WALK TO REMEMBER
It's hard to tell which scene of this film did not touch our hearts! Every single moment was magical and so full of unconditional love. Landon Carter (Shane West), starts knowing the real meaning of love when he falls in love with Jamie Sullivan (Mandy Moore), the shy and bookish student. There are scenes where he helps her complete all the wishes on her list. Every single moment is priceless, because love is not only about lovemaking or dates, but sharing these small things. What You Can Do: Of course, we come back to reality, and yours is never is going to be a sad ending! You two could make a small and feasible list and both of you could work towards fulfilling it. A better option is to surprise your partner by doing things on your own. You know what he/she wants, so just do it and prove that you don't need words! Also, the magical kiss shown in the movie will be the cherry on top!
TWILIGHT
Who doesn't reminisce the endearing love story between Edward Cullen and Bella Swan? Well, taking a leaf out of it, let's recollect the flowery meadow scene where Edward reveals his diamond-like, shimmering skin to Bella. Well, the scene was a memorable one between the two lovers, and showed Bella's acceptance of Edward. In the book by the same name, Bella says, "The meadow was small, perfectly round, and filled with wildflowers - violet, yellow, and soft white. Somewhere nearby, I could hear the bubbling music of a stream." What You Can Do: You can add a sparkle to your romantic date by choosing a secluded park or spot surrounded by immense natural beauty. You can pack some picnic food (sandwiches, pasta, lemonade, chips, cheese, and some dessert), carry a picnic blanket, and a camera too, to capture all the special moments that transpire between the two of you. Rent a bicycle and ride together, enjoying the scenic beauty around.
DIRTY DANCING
Wanna spruce up the romance between you and your squeeze on a romantic date this time? Dancing is the answer. Before we explain, let's recollect the romantic drama, Dirty Dancing, that documents the romance between Baby (Jennifer Grey) and her dance instructor Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze). The couple share many epic dance scenes that only enlivens their sizzling chemistry. What You Can Do: "Nobody puts Baby in the corner" is a dialog from this movie that can't be forgotten. Well, the dialog says a million things. You too can make your squeeze feel special by arranging for a dance lesson, where it involves only the two of you (and your dance instructor of course!) Opt for close-body dances like salsa or cha cha. With heart-pounding music, breathless emotions, and sensationally sexy dancing, you and your partner will have the time of your life!
HITCH
A lovable romantic comedy that won many hearts, Hitch revolves around dating coach Alex "Hitch" Hitchens (Will Smith) and Sara Melas (Eva Mendes). On their first date, if you remember seeing it, both of them go racing in jet skis across NY harbor. What You Can Do: Well, those who are adventure seekers and like a bit of thrill can rent a pair of jet skis, and hit the waters. Racing against each other and splashing water on each other will only add to the fun. And if you two want to share the same jet ski, taking turns riding, that's sounds even more fun!
PRETTY WOMAN
Remember the opera scene in Pretty Woman, where high-profile businessman Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) plans to take his escort-cum-girlfriend Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts) on a date to an opera in his private jet? The opera 'La Traviata' (about a prostitute falling in love with a wealthy man) moves Vivian to tears. Touched by his gesture, she grows fond of him, and this paves the way for more romantic escapades between the two. What You Can Do: It is common knowledge that opera storylines are based on two star-crossed lovers who have to fight all odds to unite, accompanied by enchanting, transformative music. So, doesn't it make for a perfect romantic date? Get dressed à la opera style (the girl can wear a red evening gown just like Julia Roberts donned in the movie, while the man can choose a black and white business attire, similar to what Richard Gere wore), get hold of opera glasses, and be ready to be swept away by beautiful music and a heart-touching love tale unfolding right in front of you. This one-of-a-kind experience will give you goose bumps for sure!
