Pimples on Forehead

Pimples on the forehead is a very common occurrence. They can be caused due to several factors, including dandruff, overactive sebaceous glands, oily hair, etc. This article will provide you with some home remedies and tips that will help you in effectively treating pimples.

The forehead is a part of the notorious T-zone and is very prone to pimples. The T-zone is the area on the face, that consists of the forehead, nose, and chin. This zone has sebaceous glands that secrete sebum, through pores. When this sebum is produced in excess, it leads to clogged pores. The clogged pores further lead to bacterial growth and thus form pimples. Apart from sebaceous glands, there are other factors that cause pimples on the forehead, ranging from dandruff on your scalp to oily hair. Hormonal changes that occur during pregnancy or menstrual cycle can be contributory factors in causing breakouts. Apart from these, stress, smoking, drug use, excessive intake of caffeine, excessive intake of alcohol, over-consumption of sweets, dietary supplements, meat, oily and spicy food, inadequate water consumption, makeup residue, hair products, sleeping habits, etc. can lead to the formation of zits and bumps on the face. It is also believed that wearing hats, caps, and helmets can result into the development of forehead acne. There are several home remedies that you can use to get rid of pimples on the forehead; some of these are mentioned below.
Cleanse and Steam Start your day with a cleansing procedure. Use a good quality cleanser, apply it on your face with the help of a cotton pad for five minutes in circular directions. Continue till you completely cleanse the skin. Next, steam your face. You can use a wide bowl, filled with hot water for this. Steam is the best way to open your clogged pores. Next, use a gentle scrub on your skin and wash it off with lukewarm water. Finish with a toner or an antiseptic lotion, so that the pores do not remain open. Warm water opens the pores, whereas cold water, ice, toner, astringent, and antiseptic lotions help in closing the pores. Remember, you need to follow this procedure twice a day. Tip: Coconut water can be used as a toner as it makes the skin soft and supple.
Wash Your Hair As mentioned before, forehead pimples are, many times, caused due to dandruff or oily hair. That's why, make sure that you opt for a good anti-dandruff shampoo. Wash your hair with it, once a week to keep dandruff at bay. Opt for a shampoo that contains ketoconazole, which is an antifungal drug and works best in treating dandruff. Whenever you apply oil on your hair, tie it back or wear a headband to keep it from falling on your forehead. Do not let your scalp remain greasy for a long time. Use a good clarifying shampoo to get squeaky-clean hair. Tip: Towel dry your hair as hair dryers are harsh on your scalp and increase dandruff.
Fuller's Earth Fuller's earth is one of the best ways to treat pimples. You can make a face mask by mixing it with water. Then, apply a thick layer on the affected area. You can add a few drops of rose water or milk to this paste. Tip: Add a few strands of saffron to the paste for a radiant complexion.
Sandalwood Paste Take a piece of sandalwood and make it wet. Then, rub it on a plain, clean stone to make a paste. Use this paste to reduce the breakout on the forehead. You can also add rose water or cucumber juice to this paste. For a glowing complexion, use 2 tsp of sandalwood powder, 1 tsp of honey and ½ tsp of turmeric powder and make a paste for the affected area. This will give a fresh look to your face when used regularly. Tip: Add a few drops of milk to this paste if you have dry skin.
Lemon Juice Apply lemon juice with a cotton ball regularly on the forehead to get a clearer skin. It will also treat the marks which are left in the wake of a breakout. You can mix lemon juice with rose water, in case you have a sensitive skin, to treat the pimples. Tip: As lemon juice is acidic as well as drying for the skin, you might prefer to add a spoonful of honey to it before applying it on your face.
Mixed Fruit Paste Fruits have antioxidants in them which help in reducing scarring and acne. You can just wash the fruits well and make a paste with the help of a blender. Apply the mashed fruits on your face and keep it for 20-30 minutes. Once it dries, you can wash it off with cold water. Tip: Use orange, grape, apple, and tomato for best results.
Tea Tree Oil A few drops of tea tree oil can be used in any face mask. Tea tree oil is known for its antibacterial and cosmetic properties. It is a better substitute than benzoyl peroxide, a popular acne medication, with considerably fewer side effects. The only downside is that this wonder oil is relatively less effective than other standard acne medicines like benzoyl peroxide. Tip: Add a drop of tea tree oil on a cotton swab and rub it gently over the pimples once or twice a week.
