Peach crisps can be a perfect dessert, especially during summer, when you get fresh peaches. Go through this article for a peach crisp recipe that can be prepared easily.

Almost everyone loves peach crisps, with the crumb topping and the juicy fruit mixture base. Apart from peaches, many other ingredients are used to make peach crisps. This sweet and tart dessert can be made in different types, using ingredients of your choice. This is one of the simplest and basic recipes for making peach crisps. Peach Crisp With Oats Ingredients
  • Sliced peaches (peeled and pitted) - 5 cups
  • All-purpose flour - 4 tbsp.
  • Cooking oatmeal - ½ cup
  • Brown sugar, packed - ¾ cup
  • Butter - ¼ cup
  • Granola sweetened with honey - ½ cup
  • Lemon juice - 1 tbsp.
  • Nutmeg powder - ½ tsp.
  • Cinnamon powder - 1 tsp.
How to Prepare
  • You have to start with the preparation of the base, that includes the peach slices. Once the base is made, prepare the topping mixture and pour over the base.
  • Take a large bowl and mix the ingredients for the base. They include peach slices, one tablespoon of flour (the remaining flour is meant for the topping), ½ cup of sweetened granola, ¼ cup of brown sugar (remaining ½ cup is for topping), and lemon juice. Two tablespoons of whiskey can be added to this mixture, but this ingredient is optional.
  • Toss the above said ingredients thoroughly, and arrange the mixture in a greased baking dish. After this, you can prepare the topping mixture with the remaining ingredients.
  • Put the remaining ingredients in a medium-sized bowl. The ingredients are ½ cup of oatmeal, ½ cup of brown sugar, three tablespoons of all-purpose flour, half teaspoon of nutmeg powder, and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Mix them well. You may use the food processor for mixing them.
  • Once done, add the butter. You may also use a pastry blender for mixing the ingredients, except butter. Once the mixing is done, butter can be added. The mixture must be like a coarse meal, once the butter gets blended well. Now, your topping part is also ready.
  • You have to spread the topping, over the base that is kept in the greased baking dish. The topping should be spread evenly over the peach slices.
  • Place the baking dish inside the oven, which is preheated to 350°F. Another method is to cover the dish with a foil, and bake for around 15 minutes in moderate temperature; then remove the foil for further baking, for around 30 to 40 minutes.
Once you remove the baked peach crisp from the oven, let it cool for at least 20 minutes. Now, your peach crisp with oats and granola is ready, and you can serve it warm, along with whipped cream, yogurt, or vanilla ice cream. You may also add chopped pecans or raisins for the topping portion. Oatmeal can be substituted with cookie crumbs. You may also add some dried fruits, nuts, or toffee in the topping. Fruits, like apples, blackberries and blueberries, can be added to the peach slices, which form the base of the crisp. You can also replace fresh peach slices with canned ones. In case of canned peaches, you have to drain well, to cut down the sugar content. Anything you add must have a compatible flavor, which enhances or gels with the flavor of the peach crisp.
