Paper Flowers Craft

Making something as beautiful as flowers from paper is an art, and you can spend your spare time dong this. It is an excellent art to teach young kids, and is always deeply satisfying. There are many different types of paper flowers that you can make, starting from the most simple to the more elaborate ones. You can use any kind of paper from the most basic plain newspapers to tissue papers and crepe.

Crepe Paper Flowers Things Required
  • Crepe paper in various colors
  • A wooden dowel
  • Pair of scissors
  • Floral tape
  • Masking tape
Method Place the crepe paper on the work surface, and cut a six-inch long strip across the width of the paper. Fold this strip half-length wise, and make a 1-inch cut about ¼-inch apart. Cut another crepe paper in the same way using a different color. Fold it half-length wise, and cut along the open end, so that you get a loose fringe. Now fold an entire crepe paper in half lengthwise, and then fold it again so that you get a smaller square piece of paper. Fold it one more time cross lengthwise, and cut out a zigzag pattern, keeping about 1 inch from the open edge. Cut the dowel into three equal pieces with the help of clippers. Twirl the crepe paper with the fringe around the dowel, and pin it in place with masking tape. Your center of the paper flower is ready. Now, twirl the zigzag patterned crepe paper around this center, slowly twisting and building up the layers in a circular motion. When you reach the end of the paper, secure it with a bit of masking tape. Your crepe paper flower is ready. Make some more flowers with different colors so that you have a bouquet, and place this in a big vase or container. Cut Out Paper Flowers Things required
  • 8 square piece of card paper

Method Fold one square piece of card paper into half, and then fold it again so that you get a smaller piece of paper. Now unfold the piece of paper, and you will see two creases that divide the paper into four equal squares. Fold the paper diagonally on one side, and fold again diagonally on the other side. Unfold and fold the paper along the original crease to get a small-sized square. Place the piece of paper in such a way that the unopened corner of the square is facing towards you, and then mark a heart-shaped pattern. Make sure that the point of the heart shape coincides with the corner that is facing towards you. Outline the shape with a pencil, and then cut it out with a scissors. Open the paper along the creases, and you have a beautiful cut out paper flowers. Repeat on all other papers and attach them to a sturdy branch with some adhesive.   • 4 tissue papers
  • Floral wire
  • Styrofoam ball
  • Green floral tape
Method Cover the floral wire by wrapping it completely with green floral tape. Cut out five 4" x 2" pieces of tissue paper and keep them aside. Wrap the tissue paper around the styrofoam ball and twist both the ends. Remove the styrofoam ball and attach the petal to one end of the floral wire. Secure with mask tape. Attach all the other four petals in the same way and pinch the ends. These paper flowers can be used as decorations and would look great at a party. You can involve your children to make them, and have a great time teaching them this wonderful craft.
