The movie shows two dim-witted friends Harry and Lloyd, who travel across the country to return a briefcase to the woman that Lloyd has fallen in love with. They do not know that the briefcase contains ransom money for a contracted kill. Many things go wrong, usually righted by pure luck, and sometimes on account of their extremely low IQ. Lloyd is played by Jim Carrey, and he does his usual over-the-top histrionics in this movie too. He plays the dumber of the two friends, and does it very convincingly. The movie had mixed reviews, but almost everyone appreciated Jim Carrey's acting. One thing that stays constant throughout is the friendship between Harry and Lloyd, and even though the gags are very overt, the underlying message is very beautiful. The last scene is where Harry and Lloyd are walking back home because they are without money, and are playfully playing tag with each other. There is no sadness that the quest did not end as they wanted, nor is there any regret, but just the joy of each other's friendship. How Jim Carrey would describe this movie This movie is about Lloyd's failed attempt to bed Mary Swanson and get paid for it.

Fast Fact Jack Nicholson turned down the role of god in the movie.
What would you do if you got omnipotent god-like powers―not for a day, but for an extended period of time? This fantasy will evoke pretty cool wishes out of a normal person. Give such a power to a frustrated, humorous and bad luck-ridden man, and you get Bruce Almighty. Bruce's actions after he gets the powers range from the pretty basic ones, such as getting a flashy car, removing traffic, to hilarious ones such as including profanity in the teleprompter and up-skirting attractive ladies with gusts of wind. The role of a frustrated news presenter is played well by Jim, although sometimes, his antics are a bit of an over reactions to situations. But this is needed so that he can do much more hilarious stuff after he gets the powers. Bruce also has a good conscience, and the antics flat out later in the movie. He tries to get altruistic, and does more good than bad. Morgan Freeman and Jim Carrey play their roles perfectly, and their interactions are fun to watch. Though the movie was panned by the critics, it enjoyed box office success. How Jim Carrey would describe this movie This movie is about a man who wears white clothes and a man who gets run over by a car.
Yes Man

The movie is based on a novel of the same name written by British author Danny Wallace. Carl, played by Jim Carrey, is introduced to a covenant, where a person says 'yes' to anything and everything when asked. That is not a good thing when you are a loan approval officer in a bank. The story is pretty simple; things look up when Carl meets Allison (played by the quirky Zooey Deschanel), and then follows a sweet love story where Allison and Carl are attracted to each other's quirkiness. Then, some unfortunate events happen, which breaks them off temporarily, because Carl is taking the covenant's rules very seriously. He is freed and goes back to Allison, and they reconcile. The movie got mixed reviews, and Jim Carrey's acting is said to be similar to his role in Liar Liar. Some critics though, liked how the concept was presented in the form of a warm love story. Fast Fact Jim Carrey came up with the idea of ripping off Sean Young's clothes to reveal her in her underwear.
This was Jim Carrey's breakthrough film, in which he portrays an animal lover detective, Ace Ventura, who rescues animals in distress. To say that Ace Ventura is eccentric and weird would be an understatement. The character is loud (sometimes literally), and displays a very unique haircut which became a fad. In the movie, Ace is called in to investigate a stolen dolphin, which supposedly is the mascot of a football team. If the mascot is not retrieved before the Superbowl, the team may well lose. The movie somehow gets homosexuality, trans-sexuality, and fierce support of animal rights in the plot. Most of the script was rewritten to accommodate Jim Carrey's portrayal of Ace Ventura. The movie is not considered a classic, but has a huge cult following. Jim Carrey's career did not look back after this movie, and he was seen as a bankable star subsequently. The movie has to be enjoyed for its ridiculously hapless story, Carrey's signature performance, and the sheer pleasure of watching a movie with as little brain power as possible. How Jim Carrey would describe this movie This movie is about a dolphin who wants to play football.

The movie thus became one of the few of his movies that did not generate cash at the box office. The studio that made the movie also went through losses, but the awards the movie got dulled the negative effect. This is a science fiction satire with some comedy elements too. For categorical purposes, it is known as a drama film, and was Jim Carrey's first encounter with a completely serious acting role. The movie is about a reality TV show that has been live 24/7, 365 days a year, for 30 years. The star of the reality show is a person born and brought up in the show itself. Everyone around him (Truman) is from outside the production set, and are actors. The concept itself is deeply philosophical, in the sense that Truman realizes later that his world is in perfect order, which seems wrong to him. This brought up comparisons to the philosophy of existentialism, where people question the meaning of the existence of an individual. The movie also has a sarcastic tone about the passion with which people are glued to reality TV. Jim Carrey gave a stellar performance, and the movie also generated big bucks. He won a Golden Globe for his performance, and was also pegged to be nominated for an Oscar, but that did not happen. This movie is a very welcome watch for normal audiences and fans alike, as they get to see Jim Carrey in a whole new personality. Jim Carrey plays the role of Fletcher Reed, a successful lawyer, and a compulsive liar. This quality of his is crucial in making him a successful lawyer. However, it also makes him a womanizer, and leads him to miss his son's birthday party. His son knows that his father does not keep his promises because he lies, and makes a wish that, for one day, his father cannot lie. This wish results in a series of unfortunate events for Fletcher, affecting his sex life, his court cases, and his clients. He realizes his blunder, but is apparently too late, since his son is moving away to another city. Fletcher makes a herculean attempt to make his son stay by trying to stop the plane on its way to the take-off strip. Fast Fact All the train shots were shot above a moving train.
This movie is a poignant love story of Joel and Clementine. They were in in love, but due to complications, had to break it off. Clementine, not able to tolerate the heartbreak, goes for a memory erasing procedure. When Joel comes to know about this, even he goes through the same procedure. They encounter each other again in a train, and realize that they had a past. They track it down to Lacuna Inc., the company that erased their memories, and try to give their love another chance. The movie got universal acclaim and did decently commercially too. It is also one of the few Jim Carrey movies in which he does not do his signature dramatics. His and Kate Winslet's acting stood out, even though the movie had an ensemble cast. Kate Winslet counts her performance in this movie as her favorite in her career. The movie makes the audience think and questions the morality of erasing memory, if we could do that. It also plays with the idea that two people can fall into love again, if they wish to. Although what happens between the couple in the movie is kept open-ended, the audiences come out with a smile. Smart. Jim Carrey's Pay: $540,000
Fast Fact Jim Carrey based his character on his father.
This is a Jim Carrey movie in full blossom. He is melodramatic in his own right, and add to that top-of-the-line special effects, and you have this riot of a movie. It is the story of a regular guy, Stanley Ipkiss, who gets his hand on a mask that gives him superpowers. It turns him into a trickster with a banana-colored suit and pearly white teeth people could kill for. Everything that could go wrong goes wrong, to the extent that a bad guy gets his hands on the mask. It transforms him into an indestructible super-villian. The movie incorporates the brand of comedy Jim Carrey propagates―loud, loud, and louder. Many of the scenes that he was in were improvised by him. Naturally, Jim Carrey is very flexible, and this played to the producer's interest, since they saved quite a bit of money on special effects that way. Jim Carrey played the role so well, that no one can think of any other actor who could have done the role justice. The movie also launched the career of Cameron Diaz, who became a leading actress in Hollywood. These were some of the best Jim Carrey movies that showed, both his comedic and dramatic acting skills.
