Lloyd is played by Jim Carrey, and he does his usual over-the-top histrionics in this movie too. He plays the dumber of the two friends, and does it very convincingly. The movie had mixed reviews, but almost everyone appreciated Jim Carrey's acting. One thing that stays constant throughout is the friendship between Harry and Lloyd, and even though the gags are very overt, the underlying message is very beautiful. The last scene is where Harry and Lloyd are walking back home because they are without money, and are playfully playing tag with each other. There is no sadness that the quest did not end as they wanted, nor is there any regret, but just the joy of each other's friendship. Bruce's actions after he gets the powers range from the pretty basic ones, such as getting a flashy car, removing traffic, to hilarious ones such as including profanity in the teleprompter and up-skirting attractive ladies with gusts of wind. The role of a frustrated news presenter is played well by Jim, although sometimes, his antics are a bit of an over reactions to situations. But this is needed so that he can do much more hilarious stuff after he gets the powers. Bruce also has a good conscience, and the antics flat out later in the movie. He tries to get altruistic, and does more good than bad. Morgan Freeman and Jim Carrey play their roles perfectly, and their interactions are fun to watch. Though the movie was panned by the critics, it enjoyed box office success. The story is pretty simple; things look up when Carl meets Allison (played by the quirky Zooey Deschanel), and then follows a sweet love story where Allison and Carl are attracted to each other's quirkiness. Then, some unfortunate events happen, which breaks them off temporarily, because Carl is taking the covenant's rules very seriously. He is freed and goes back to Allison, and they reconcile. The movie got mixed reviews, and Jim Carrey's acting is said to be similar to his role in Liar Liar. Some critics though, liked how the concept was presented in the form of a warm love story. He realizes his blunder, but is apparently too late, since his son is moving away to another city. Fletcher makes a herculean attempt to make his son stay by trying to stop the plane on its way to the take-off strip. This movie is one of the signature Jim Carrey movies, where he is allowed to be as over-the-top as possible.
