How to Make Cookie Bouquets
Cookie bouquets have become very popular as a gift item. Everyone loves them, and they are very easy to make. This article give you instructions for making this unique gift item.
- Chopsticks or Wooden Skewers - The sticks should be heat-proof, and if you are baking small size cookies, using popsticks would be more convenient.
- Cookies - Make delicious and large-size cookies that are crispy outside and soft and chewy inside. You can also add flavors like chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, etc.
- Container - Make sure the container is sturdy and has a strong base, especially if you are planning to add a few big cookies. You can use a coffee mug, cookie jar, porcelain or pottery serving ware, basket, etc.
- Cellophane - Shiny, colored cellophane and bright plastic wrap would look best on the bouquets.
- Ribbons - Colorful, glossy, curly ribbons will work well for the presentation.
- Decorations - As per the occasion and person you are gifting it to, the decoration ideas can vary from candy, stuffed animals, fake or real flowers, balloons, toys, etc.
- Styrofoam or Florist Foam - A block of clean Styrofoam and a big ribbon, some moss, plastic grass, tissue paper to cover the foam.
- While placing the cookie dough on the cookie sheet, slightly press the dough so that it doesn't spread much while baking, and the stick can be inserted properly. Before baking, insert the chopstick into one side of the cookie. Force the stick in almost the length of the cookie, and make sure it does not go out the other end. If the cookie is too big, the stick should be sturdy, else the cookie may fall apart when you'll pick it up.
- After baking the cookies with their sticks, allow them to cool down. Now wrap each cookie with the cellophane and tie the base from where the stick comes out of the cookie with a curly colorful ribbon. You can also decorate each cookie with extra ribbons or bows.
- According to the size of the top of the container, cut the Styrofoam and fit the foam tightly near the top of the container. You can put something heavy like pebbles at the bottom of the container so that it doesn't tip over.
- Now to assemble the cookie bouquet, take each cookie and stick them through the foam near the bottom of the container. You can assemble them in any pattern you like, but keep in mind that usually the taller cookie is kept at the center with other cookies surrounding it. Grace it with additional ribbons, bows, toys, flowers, etc.
