Hawaii is a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean, southwest of the United States. It is the only state of the United States which does not share a border with any other American state. Honolulu is the capital of the state of Hawaii. The name Hawaii is borrowed from the largest of the eight islands on the tropical archipelago where the state lies. The other islands are Maui, Kahoolawe, Lanai, Molokai, Oahu, Kauai and Niihau. The people of Hawaii speak
Olelo Hawaii or Hawaiian, which is a Polynesian language.
Ethnic Hawaiian food is consumed during festivals or occasions like weddings.
Okolehao, a traditional Hawaiian liquor, made from the
ti plant, is served at all
luaus or Hawaiian festivals, along with
kalua pig, a Hawaiian roast delicacy made from the butt of the pig and cooked in an
imu or underground oven. Kava, a traditional beverage of this country, is served commercially at kava bars. Sparkling pineapple wine is also a popular drink of Hawaii. A popular barbecue chicken recipe is cooked with the
huli huli sauce (made with brown sugar cane, ginger and soy sauce, ginger).
Over the years, the Hawaiians have imbibed the culinary skills of the settlers, mostly from the Asian continent, so the modern cuisine is quite multi-ethnic but imbibes the distinct flavors of Hawaii.
Hawaiian ribeye recipes too owe their origin to this multi-cuisine, however many of the food recipes use marinade spices that are authentic and native to Hawaii. Let's take a look at some Hawaiian ribeye recipes.
Hawaiian Ribeye Steak Recipe
Ingredients
ribeye steaks, 2 - 8 oz. each
For Marinade
cider, 3/4 cup
pineapple (canned), 3/4 cup - drained
garlic clove, 2 - crushed
dried and ground ginger, 1-1/2 tsps
soy sauce, 1-2/3 cups
sugar, 1-2/3 cups

In a saucepan, mix all the marinade ingredients. Place saucepan over the flame and bring to a boil. Cover with lid and let it simmer on low flame for an hour. Remove from heat, place aside and allow to cool entirely. Take a glass baking dish and the steaks in it. Pour the marinade over it and refrigerate for about 4 hours.
In the meanwhile, you need to get your grill ready. In case you have a gas grill, set to medium temperature. If you like smoke flavored meat, you can use a charcoal grill. Heat the grill, till the coals glow and spread them out evenly. Next, remove the steak from the marinade and place on the grill for 4-6 mins per side. When done, remove from grill and keep aside for a few mins before serving.
