Frontal Headache Causes
Frontal headache, though a common occurrence, can be quite a bothersome experience. At times, it may catch the person unawares and can be quite intense, hampering daily activities. Which is why it is essential to know about frontal headache causes and the remedial measures to bring it down.
- Dehydration is one of the common causes of not only frontal headache but also left frontal lobe headache and right frontal lobe headache. When the body gets dehydrated, the water content decreases, leading the muscles to 'dry up'. Reduced level of water in the cells and muscles can lead to their over functioning, hence giving rise to strain in the body, especially on the forehead. Sometimes this headache is also referred to as dehydration headache.
- Sinus problems or sinusitis is another culprit when it comes to frontal headaches. Sinusitis may develop due to allergies and common cold, causing inflammation of the sinuses. This can also lead to headaches, which may occur till the infection lasts. Headache can occur within minutes, or after a couple of hours. In some cases, the headache may be persistent and also cause problems to the individual.
- Undergoing a lot of stress or tension can also trigger frontal headache. This is because, when the body is under a lot of stress the blood vessels dilate, increasing the volume and pressure of the blood flowing through them. The muscles in the neck and head also become tense, which may cause headaches and pain in the frontal lobe.
- Individuals working in front of the computer for an extended period of time, performing tasks while sitting at a close distance from the computer screen, could put a strain on the eyes and in turn trigger headaches. Other conditions associated with this disorder are eyelid heaviness, redness in the eyes, blurred vision, tired eyes, and dryness in the eyes etc.
- The formation of tumor in the brain could also be one of the causes. Tumor growth can increase the pressure in the brain and the person may also suffer from fainting or blackout spells. The pain caused due to the tumor may not subside unless it receives medical intervention.
