Cream Cheese Wontons These finger food items are simply great! Cream cheese wontons are soft and creamy on the inside and crispy and crunchy on the outside. Simple exploding with flavor, you can experiment with different ingredients like adding some crumbled bacon or sprinkling a dash of chopped chives. Ingredients
  • 8 oz. cream cheese (softened)
  • 16 wanton wrappers
  • Oil
  • 1 jar sweet and sour sauce (for dipping)
Preparation Heat the oil in a pan or pour it into a skillet and heat on high temperature. Peanut oil or vegetable oil works the best. While you are heating the oil, lay out all the wanton wrappers on a tray. Keep a small bowl of water close to you so you can wet your fingers. Add a dab of cream cheese to a corner of each of the wrappers. Use your fingers and wet the ends of the wrapper that are closest to the cream cheese and then fold the other end down to seal the edges, making that typical wonton triangular shape. Make sure the edges are sealed tightly but it would be good to leave a few gaps at the corners so that the wontons don't expand and burst. Drop a couple of wontons into the oil and keep turning them over so that they get cooked or turn brown. Take them out of the oil, set them on a paper towel so as to drain them and then serve them with hot and sweet sauce!
