  • To make a crab, first cut out one cup from the egg carton using the knife or scissors.
  • Then, paint the cup in the color of your choice (Who said your crab can't be blue?).
  • While the paint is drying, cut the chenille stems into small pieces.
  • After the cup has dried, turn it over and stick the pieces of chenille stems along opposite sides of the rims to make the legs of the crab.
  • Take two chenille stems and bend them in the shape of pinchers.
  • Stick these at the head of the cup.
  • Give the pinchers some support while they dry and then stick the wiggly eyes onto the head.
  • Your crab is ready.
Jellyfish
  • To make a jellyfish, again, cut out a cup from the carton.
  • Paint it whatever color you wish.
  • By the time the paint dries, cut the yarn into pieces and braid them. Make as many braids as you want.
  • Stick these braids along the rim of the cup from the inside.
  • Let it dry and then paste the wiggly eyes on the head. Your jellyfish is ready.
Octopus
  • First, cut out a cup from the carton and paint it.
  • As the paint dries, cut out strips of felt paper in the shape of octopus tentacles and stick the beads on one side.
  • After the paint dries, stick these tentacles, beaded sided facing in, on the rim of the cup (from inside).
  • Paste the wiggly eye and your octopus is ready!
Oyster
  • First, cut out 2 cups from the carton.
  • Paint them whichever color you wish.

Other Animals: You can make different animals or insects using egg cartons! This will help you in 2 ways: it'll get your kids interested in arts and crafts AND you can also help them learn names of animals in a fun way. Let's see how easily you can make them. Caterpillar

Flowers: You can also make pretty flowers using an egg carton.

  • Turn these upside down and you have a beautiful bouquet of colorful flowers!
Apart from being great crafts for kids, these crafts also encourage the three 'R's to conserve the environment: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle! Egg cartons are generally made from styrofoam which does not degenerate up to a period of five hundred years. Recycling them into something so creative and fun is another way to teach your kids the importance of environment conservation. So go ahead and have fun saving our planet.
