11 Easy Steps to Glue a Puzzle

Assembling your favorite jigsaw puzzle is a fun activity that we've all loved doing as kids. But wouldn't it be a wonderful idea to preserve it? With this Buzzle post, you will learn that in 11 easy steps, you can glue any puzzle for years to come.

Beginner's Tip When working with a variety of adhesives―white glue, Mod Podge, or hot glue―make sure you don't move the project too early. Let the glue dry completely before you do so.
Haven't we all come across a situation where a gorgeous puzzle is complete and we just don't have the heart to dismantle it? Perhaps the puzzle has a thousand tiny pieces and you don't wish to put in all that effort again. Or it could be that you bought the puzzle for some sentimental reasons. Whatever the reason may be, you don't necessarily have to dismantle it. With the help of some glue and a few other essential items, we can show you how easy it is to preserve your favorite puzzle forever. All you need to do is follow the steps given below.
How to Glue a Puzzle Together
In this following section, we have provided step-by-step instructions along with the images. At the final step, you will see directions to place the glued puzzle inside a wooden frame. However, if you would rather glue the puzzle onto a cardboard, that's fine as well. Just eliminate the final step and use the cardboard instead. Step 1 - First and foremost, let's bring out all the necessary items required for the project onto the workstation―jigsaw puzzle, wax paper, squeegee, puzzle glue, and wooden frame.
Step 2 - Place a sheet of wax paper on the table so that you can start putting the puzzle together over it.
Step 3 - Now gently pour the glue in the center, on the front side of the puzzle.
Step 4 - Using the squeegee, spread the glue evenly over the entire surface.
Step 5 - Leave the puzzle alone for at least 15 minutes (or however long it may be advised on the glue's bottle). This will give the glue enough time to dry completely. Step 6 - Slowly, turn the puzzle over. Hopefully, the wax paper is not stuck to the bottom. If it is, gently remove it off the rear side of the puzzle. Step 7 - If the previous sheet of wax paper gets torn while removing it, place a fresh sheet of wax paper on the table. Step 8 - Keep the puzzle over it with the front side facing downward. Step 9 - Pour puzzle glue in the center, on the rear side of the puzzle.
Step 1 - With the same squeegee, spread the glue evenly over the rear side of the puzzle.
Step 10 - Leave the puzzle alone so that the glue can dry completely. Step 11 - Once dry, lift the glued puzzle off the wax paper and place it inside a wooden frame.
Apart from using the puzzle glue, you can apply Elmer's Glue and Mod Podge for the project. Spread either adhesives with a sponge brush, a squeegee, or a good-quality paintbrush, and the rest of the steps will be almost the same as mentioned above.
