Dwarf rabbits are one of the smallest pets that one can have. They have their origins in Europe. They are very docile, and do not present major problems. One interesting thing that must be noted here is that these rabbits are capable of interbreeding with normal rabbits, and hence they are not recognized as a different species. They weigh about 3 lbs. Depending upon the type, a dwarf rabbit can have a lifespan ranging from 5-13 years. They can have a lifespan of anything between 5 to 10 years. They are the smallest of all rabbit breeds, but the most popular ones as well. Although dwarf rabbit breeds are very affectionate, Netherland dwarfs are the most temperamental of all. Yet, because of their size, shape, and appearance, they have a great appeal as pets. They have the smallest bodies and legs, so small that they can fit into a tiny glass. Their life expectancy is similar to that of a normal rabbit, which is about 7 to 10 years. In rare cases, their life expectancy can be up to 13 years as well. In their entire life span, they may be affected by the common health problems that all rabbits face. Flies, lice, and overgrown teeth are a few of these. However, taking care of them is not very difficult. Dwarf Hotots are not as small as Netherland Dwarfs, but are just as cute. They have very-dark eyes and a striking-white fur. Dwarf Hotots are very similar to Netherland Dwarfs, but they are much more docile. They like people and can be trained very easily. Although most of them have a white fur, they can have chocolate-colored and black-colored fur as well. Do not be fooled by the small size of these creatures. They are anything but lazy. They require continuous exercise. And as all rabbits like to burrow, you will have to think of some way to let them do the same. Another idea to keep them amused is to let them play in doll houses. They may wreak havoc in that house, but will have fun doing so and will remain engaged. Feeding dwarf rabbits is not a big problem. They can eat any green leafy vegetables, along with some fruits every now and then. Make sure to give them a fresh supply of hay. This is their staple food. They have a tendency to dehydrate. So make sure that the bottle feeder is never empty. It should always have fresh water in it. Good pet care is the only way in which you can increase the life expectancy of your dwarf rabbits.
