Daily Beauty Regimen
Following a beauty regimen is the key to having blemish free skin that glows with health. But what is a proper beauty regimen and does it differ according to your age? The following write-up will reveal the answers to these questions, and give you an idea about how you should take care of your skin.
- Cleansing- Wash your face twice a day with a good cleanser. Avoid soap at all costs and invest in a face wash instead. If you have normal to dry skin, then wash your face and neck with a foaming facial cleanser, and if you have oily skin, choose an oil free gel cleanser.
- Toning- After cleansing your skin, the next step is to apply a toner. Choose an alcohol free toner that contains natural astringents like witch hazel extract or chamomile essence. A toner will help to remove any dirt or oil from your skin's pores and also restore your skin's pH balance.
- Moisturizing- Using a good moisturizer is very important to keep your skin hydrated and supple. Women with normal to dry skin should opt for a heavier moisturizer, which contains ingredients like niacinamide and ceramides that deeply moisturizes the skin. Women who have oily skin should stick to lighter water based moisturizers or mattifying that will hydrate skin without making your skin look oily. Moisturize at least twice a day immediately after having a shower, as it will lock the moisture in your skin.
- Exfoliating- A very important step in skin care is exfoliation. Exfoliate your skin once a week with a natural scrub that contains soft granules. This will remove dead cells and debris from the skin, allowing moisturizers to work effectively. Take care not to use scrubs and exfoliators too frequently as it will strip your skin of essential oils, leaving it dry and rough.
- Sun Protection- Never leave your home without applying a broad spectrum sunscreen. Sun damage is one of the primary causes of skin aging, and it can be prevented by using a sunscreen above SPF 30 that protects from both UVA and UVB rays.
- Use an Eye Cream- The skin around your eyes is the thinnest and also very delicate, which is why it is more prone to wrinkles and fine lines. So use a rich eye cream that will keep the under eye area hydrated. If you are suffering from under eye bags, then it is a good idea to skip rich creams and opt for an eye gel instead. For dark circles, use an eye cream that is specially formulated to address this. Since the eye area is very delicate, use your ring finger to apply eye cream for the gentlest pressure.
- Use an Anti Wrinkle Cream- Using an anti wrinkle cream should be a part of your daily skin care routine as soon as you hit your 30s. Anti wrinkle creams containing retinoid is your best bet to delay signs of aging and prevent the appearance of wrinkles and lines. So choose an anti aging cream that contains retinoid, but make sure that it suits your skin.
- Use a Dark Spot Corrector- As you age, dark spots or sun spots might appear on your skin, which mars your complexion and makes your skin looks blotchy with an uneven skin tone. Target these pesky brown spots by using a dark spot correcting serum or lotion, along with a high SPF sunscreen. This will help in fading the dark spots and evening out your complexion in a few weeks time.
